À propos de l'organisme d'accueil local
Spoločenstvo evanjelickej mládeže / Fellowship of Lutheran Youth is Slovak Christian Youth organisation that is active on local, regional and also national level. Our goal is to lead young people in their process of maturing. We try to help them to form solid standards for their future life. Through personal examples we try to lead them to self-acceptance, to non-selfish perception of surrounding and to spending of meaningful free time.
These goals we realize through different types of activities. This happens through regular meetings during the week; educational programs; sport; music; local, regional and national activities. During almost 30 years of our existence we have conducted hundreds of concerts, sport events, educational and other activities.
To our major projects belong
- SEMFEST - open air festival
- HELPING HAND - outdoor activities that help local communities
- SEM CONFERENCE - educational and motivating event for leaders of local communities
- CONFIWEEKENDS - motivating and contact event for 13-15 years old teenagers
- DVK - one year long schooling for young leaders
- MEETINGS FOR YOUNG LEADERS - education for local leaders
- SPORTOLYMPIADS - sport supporting events
We organise our activities with the help of more than 400 volunteers, 4 fulltimers and 6 part-time.
Our target group is youth: 13-30 years old
We have got 3891 participants in 110 local SEM groups.
In the last 10 years we are active in hosting and sending of volunteers.
Présentation du programme
Discover Slovakia, Empower Youth, Make a Difference!
Our project takes place in three vibrant regional centers across Slovakia — Púchov, Dolný Kubín, and Veľký Slavkov (just a stone’s throw from the breathtaking High Tatras).
This is more than just volunteering — it’s about investing in young people, building community, and sharing life-changing skills. As a volunteer, you’ll become part of a dynamic team organizing and leading various activities: youth clubs, camps, weekend events, workshops, international days, and even our own festival.
You’ll have the chance to bring your own ideas to life, collaborate with others, and make a real impact — all while growing in creativity, confidence, and leadership. Whether you’re helping plan a summer camp or sparking conversations at a local event, your voice matters here.
If you’re someone who enjoys meeting new people, trying new things, and can’t stand boredom — this is the project for you!
À propos de l'hébergement
Volunteers will share a flat with another volunteer.
In Dolný Kubín, you’ll stay in a spacious 4-room apartment with a large, cozy living room — perfect for welcoming guests!
In Veľký Slavkov, accommodation is provided in a private section of the International Youth Centre, offering both privacy and a lively community atmosphere.
Food:
You’ll receive a regular monthly food allowance.
During camps and events, meals are provided. In Veľký Slavkov, meals are partly covered by the International Centre.
Transport:
All necessary travel costs are covered,
À propos des loisirs
Upon arrival in Slovakia, the volunteer will have a short introduction to the organisation, the culture, the local community and our language. A Slovak teacher will be available during the year.
Volunteers will also complete a health and safety course and a first aid course. Before and during each activity there will be a person / people who will lead accompany you
The National Agency in Slovakia provides two compulsory courses for volunteers, On Arrival and Mid term.
If the volunteer is interested, we can also provide other training programmes.
Exigences
The Participant profile: A volunteer in our project should be open-minded, friendly, and comfortable working with young people and children. While previous experience with youth work is a plus, it’s not a requirement.
We’re looking for someone who is eager to learn Slovak and open to discovering new things. By the end of the project, the volunteer will gain valuable hands-on experience in youth work, graphic design, and multimedia. They will also develop essential soft skills such as public speaking, teamwork, leadership, time management, and communicating in a foreign language.
Come ready to serve, grow — and have fun along the way!
