À propos de l'organisme d'accueil local
Agrupamento de Escolas Terras do Ave (AETAVE), is a cluster of 10 schools established in 2000–2001 in Vila Nova de Famalicão, Northern Portugal, with 1503 students spanning preschool, primary, and secondary levels. Dedicated to providing quality education, fostering inclusivity, and supporting holistic student development, our organization addresses diverse needs, including social, economic, geographical, and disability-related barriers.
Our key activities involve implementing student-centered pedagogical practices, school clubs, and active participation in European projects. Over 58% of students receive financial aid amid the region's economic challenges. We prioritize investments in IT solutions, incorporating STEAM and CLIL approaches, and initiatives like "Anima uma história" to enhance reading and comprehension skills through technology.
With a primary focus on students at all levels, especially those facing barriers, we strive for equal educational opportunities and personal development support. Our application for the Quality Label signifies a steadfast commitment to conducting high-quality solidarity activities aligned with European Solidarity Corps principles. It goes beyond recognition, representing our pledge to drive positive transformation within our local community. By formalizing our dedication, we actively contribute to a diverse network of organizations dedicated to fostering solidarity, inclusivity, and sustainable development at the grassroots level.
Présentation du programme
Volunteers will mainly carry out tasks at the school but may also collaborate with local organizations like H2Ave, Humanitave, and the senior center, gaining broader community engagement experience. At school, they will join the “Welcome and Empathy Week”, supporting group dynamics and team-building activities to help students start the year positively. Throughout the project, volunteers are expected to lead workshops aligned with their interests — such as arts, music, languages, environment, or digital skills. They are also encouraged to propose creative projects to improve and brighten the school space.
À propos de l'hébergement
Accommodation is in a nearby private house, hosting up to 10 volunteers in shared double rooms (4 rooms, 2 people each) and one sofa bed. The house includes a shared kitchen, two bathrooms, and a common living room for social time.
Breakfast and lunch are provided on working days at the school canteen. Volunteers receive a daily allowance of around 10€, covering pocket money and food, paid at the start of the activity. They also get a school card for discounted snacks.
Volunteers will be reimbursed for public transport travel costs, up to a max based on distance, with original tickets.
À propos des loisirs
The volunteers will have continuous support from the project team throughout the entire duration of the activity.
Before the activity begins, online meetings will be organized to clarify any questions, whether related to travel and accommodation arrangements or the specific activities to be undertaken.
