Présentation du programme

We offer 5 months of agri/cultural volunteering project on the organic farm in Jurovski Dol (Slovenia) for TWO VOLUNTEERS. At our farm, we combine farming with social engagement, youth work, and arts. The main activities of the volunteering project will consist of taking care for the farm from the early spring to the mid-summer. You will deal with traditional meadow orchard, lavender field, vineyard, and a small garden, and will be responsible for some simple restoration works on wooden structures (vine trellis) and fruit plantations (black current, lavender, nuts). You will be introduced into the daily care for our animals, hens, ducks, mini sheep, cats :), and will collaborate in our cultural events and youth work for the local community. If you want a good, practical and communicative introduction to organic farming, agroecology and eco-activism in global perspective, with practical introduction to fruit growing, herbs, wine making and basic gardening: you’re in the right place!

À propos de l'hébergement

2 volunteers will live in the independent 2-rooms flat in the farmhouse on the property of Zelena centrala in the RURAL VILLAGE of Jurovski Dol. Each volunteer has her/his own room to sleep. The flat has its own kitchen with the direct exit to the vast terrace, and a bathroom with the washing machine. We provide 100% organic food: we cook the lunch, you take care for your breakfast&dinner (we supply 100% organic&local). The working hours 8-15, including the morning break and the lunch. In case of events the hours may differ. Regular buses to Maribor depart 500m from the farm. Bikes provided.

Exigences

The Participant profile: We're looking for responsible, engaged and self-aware persons, who like to share and live in a community. We cherish the curiosity of knowledgeable individuals, and foster the collective sensibility to global challenges of social and environmental justice. Would you like to practice/upgrade your existing knowledge/interest on organic farming in global perspective, social ecology, waste efficiency, awareness of limited resources? Welcome! You should be ready to live in the rural environment, away from the city comforts, close to the nature, forests, and animals. Be ready for some creative team work and for concrete practices of sustainable living, preservation of nature and food production. There will be a lot of physical work outdoors - you will need some physical condition and you should be able to adapt to the unpredictable weather conditions. We don't work outdoors when raining or when it's too hot, but still: you should be ready to spend most of your day outside of your room. Experiences with cooking, living with others and working with children warmly welcome.
Deadline: 02/11/2025 23:59

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
