A propos du travail de volontaire---In Hanoi, majority pupils after schools pay attention to watching T.V, playing games online or watching clips on websites when their parents are busy at work. So many of them are suffering from different eye diseases. In contrast, many pupils living in poor families wants to learn English but their parents do not have enough money to pay for them to join a modern English Center with native and professional teachers. They really want us to help their sons or daughters to get an English environment to improve English more naturally. Annually, million students from rural villages in different provinces of Vietnam come to Hanoi for studying at colleges or universities and in another part, so many students expect to get a good job after graduating from colleges or universities. Most of them have a high desire to improve their English skills, especially English speaking to join an international company, group or corporation after graduation. Understanding the important role of English communication skill , SJ Vietnam opens some small free English classes for them to improve English oral skill. Those classes not only promote pupils' and students' physical, intellectual and emotional development but also encourage them to think critically and independently. Those classes will help foster in the young morally sound values and outlook on the world and life by interacting with foreigner volunteers. -- Work:Help pupils and students improve their English skills as a friend, work together with the mentor or SJ Vietnam staffs and cooperate with humanitarian aid service and non-profit organizations to organize outside activities (such as some outdoor lessons in a park, in the museum or charity/voluntary work in the community, etc.)

A propos du travail de volontaire-- Recently, a close relationship and bilateral collaboration between Vietnam and Japan has been promoted and continues developing. The number of Japanese investors in Vietnam has been rising in many fields including education, human resources and labor training, preventing climate change, and culture exchange. Cooperation in education and training between the two countries has developed in many forms. Japan is one of the largest non-refundable aid providers in the education and training sector in Vietnam. Therefore, many students in Vietnam choose studying Japanese as a second language for their future job. Please join this project to help students make their dream come true and contribute to fostering the partnership between the two countries. When learning Chinese, Vietnamese students will have more opportunities to access traditional Chinese culture, learn new cultures and other ways of seeing the world. Learning Chinese helps students to understand more deeply, through the grammatical origin of the culture behind the words. Is this a great opportunity for young people who know Chinese and want to develop themselves? China invests in the Vietnamese market with many long-term investments. It is unmistakable that Vietnam and China are neighbors, no matter how deep the relationship between the two countries, a deep understanding of a giant neighbor is a long-standing strategy of Vietnam. However, the fact that learning Chinese is extremely difficult. Chinese is the most complex language in the world. A word is rarely translated a single meaning into another language, because it all depends on the context. Coming from another culture and listening to native speakers is like going to a friend's party and trying to understand the jokes inside. Today, China can be considered as one of the world powers (after the United States). It can not be denied that China is the cradle of human civilization. With this project, SJ Vietnam wishes to give more chance for students to learn, exchange culture and actively take advantage of career opportunities with high and attractive salary in their near future. ---Work: Participating every regular class and provide vocal pronunciation when needed. Volunteers will organize after-class activities including extra pronunciation&speaking class, cooking class, movie etc. They will have daily close communication with teachers and students to understand their problems and needs.

A propos du logement sur placeThe college or university provides accommodation with services like as a hostel. Meals are served at the canteen and vegetarian catering is possible.

A propos du travail de volontaireThe role of the university is to prepare students for their professional future life and career. In today’s globalized world and modern societies, English speaking is extremely important in developing a country like Vietnam. The issue is that, even though Vietnamese students spend 6-7 years learning English, they still cannot speak and communicate in English. Because of the traditional teaching methods, they can only write grammatical sentences, while their oral skills are very bad. With this project, SJ Vietnam helps university and college students to improve their speaking/oral skills interacting with foreign volunteers and helps them to open their mind by learning from different cultures. Our international volunteers have a real impact and encourage Vietnamese students to pursue their dreams and to participate in the development of Vietnam (through tourism and business, and the development of a qualified Vietnamese workforce). *Your work: Help students improve their English skills as a mentor, work together with the local staffs and cooperate with humanitarian aid service and non-profit organizations to organize social activities for students (such as charity/voluntary work in the community, fundraise for those activities, etc.)

A propos du travail de volontaire*Ky Quang Orphanage is run by Ky Quang Pagoda, which was built in the early part of the 20th Century in 1924. The pagoda is now a place of charity for unlucky children and also helps to treat diseases. Now, the pagoda is taking care and bringing up more than 200 children in the South of Vietnam. The children here have unfortunate backgrounds as many have been abandoned by their parents and relatives. Every few months, the monks find a new baby left in front of the pagoda gate. The head monk sometimes receives phone calls from hospitals requesting him to take in abandoned babies. At the moment, about 200 children are living in the Pagoda, their ages ranging from 5 days old to 40 years old. 90 of these are orphans that are suffering from cerebral-palsy, blindness or Down's syndrome, Agent Orange. At present, about 30-40 local children have a chance to study at Ky Quang as some local teachers teach Vietnamese for them in the morning. CVI is a learning center for disadvantage children, homeless children, those were born in poor family to have a chance to learn how to read and write in Vietnamese. That is the basic need for children as their age. Besides that, CVI provides opportunities for them to develop their life skills. At present the center has accepted about 40 kids around the area. We believe every child deserves an education, we empower the next generation, to choose a world full of compassion. Co May Dormitory was built on purpose of generating good condition for poor and good students. It provides free dorms and other facilities for students who are studying at universities located in Ho Chi Minh City. We believe that with support from Co May, the student will concentrate on studying to become a good citizen then contribute in the development of the country.. * Work: Volunteers will spend time with the children to organize games and other activities for them, play with kids aged from 3 to 5 years old, help the baby sister to take care of the children. Volunteers will also do some manual work which benefits the project where the children are staying, studying, such as help to paint classroom and clean the area.

A propos du logement sur placeThe volunteer will stay with a host family with basic accommodation in a local house.

Localisation du projetYou will have free time during the evenings and the weekends to spend as you please. During those free moments you can travel to discover further wonders of Vietnam.

A propos de l'organisation localeSJ Vietnam is an international youth NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) that promotes values of solidarity, peace and tolerance through youth citizenship projects to improve society during and after the voluntarism. SJ Vietnam is an independent, non-political and non-religious organization open to everybody without any distinction of nationality, race, education or sex.

A propos du logement sur placeThe college/university will provide simple accommodation. Meals are served at the canteen of the project site and vegetarian catering is possible.

Localisation du projetYou will have free time during the evenings and the weekends to spend as you please. During those free moments, you can travel to discover further wonders of Vietnam.

ExigencesVolunteers should be enthusiastic, patient, optimistic, creative and full of energy and ready to work with children with different levels of disability.
