The Mexican Association of International Volunteering AC (AMVIAC) participates in the transformation of the country through the integration of International Volunteering in projects organized in Mexico and abroad by civil associations, local governments, communities and organized groups, with the idea that after this experience they can become more actively involved in the work of their community.
The Maratón AMVIAC MTB is a community-based mountain bike event created as part of the heritage revitalization process led by AMVIAC since 2019 in the community of El Hospital, Cuautla, Morelos. The race takes place around the historic landscape of the Ex Hacienda de Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, where AMVIAC has organized more than 15 volunteer camps focused on the conservation of its historic aqueduct and surrounding territory. In its 5th edition, the marathon will host its first international volunteer camp. Volunteers will support the preparation and implementation of the event while participating in a long-term community heritage initiative. ACTIVITIES: Volunteers will support the organizing team: Before:• trail preparation and route marking, • logistics support, • hydration station preparation, • participant kit organization, • environmental cleanup of selected trail sections, During the event: • assistance at checkpoints and refreshment stations, • support at start/finish area, • orientation for cyclists, • documentation support (optional) After: • removal of signage, • environmental cleanup, • evaluation activities with organizers and community members.
Volunteers will be housed in a home with all amenities. Volunteers must bring a sleeping bag.
The AMVIAC Marathon takes place in a historic region known for its warm weather and rich cultural heritage. This special project serves as a massive gathering point where international volunteers from various summer camps come together for a high-impact community event. During free time, the focus is on intercultural exchange, including a traditional "Intercultural Night" to share food, music, and traditions. Volunteers can also explore the local community, relax during group activities, and take weekend trips to explore the region's main cultural highlights and natural attractions.
