About the local hosting organization

It is an organisation seeking to provide support to people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis. Their main activities include psychosocial assistance to people living or affected by HIV/AIDS, providing food and clothes to those in need, provide food supplements for children with low nutrition levels, train people how to take care of people with HIV and provide daily care at home to people with HIV as well promote awareness campaigns in order to prevent the spread of HIV. Their main target groups are: a) vulnerable children; b) woman living and/or affected by HIV/AIDS and c) people with tuberculosis.

Presentation of the programme

The international volunteers will be working with the local community activists in the following activities: Providing psychosocial support to people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS; Working with local children in different activities like schooling, homework, daycare, etc; Organizing and running workshops for the local communities on infectious diseases; Promoting awareness raising campaigns in order to prevent the spread of HIV in schools and local markets; Advocate for the Human Rights of people living with HIV/AIDS.

About the accomodation

With a Mozambican host family.

About the location

The project is located in one of the suburbs of Maputo, a residential area. Some services and facilities are provided in the area. The neighbourhood is safe and with easy access to the area by local transport.
