Our school La Purisima Alzira is a catholic school and with Franciscan spirituality. Ours is one of the eleven schools belonging to the Franciscan Schools Foundation of the Immaculate. The school has two units per course, from pre-primary to A levels. It currently has 822 students. The 99% of our students live in Alzira and come from an urban area. The predominant socioeconomic is the middle class, although we also have some under-resourced students and students with problematic situations who are served by the Social Services of the City Council. In our center there are 70 students who receive assistance from the Conselleria dining room, which represents more than 25% of the daily average of students who use the school canteen. In addition, the City Council of Alzira has extended to 100% the aid to all these students, because they are students from families with very low income. When carrying out the admission process of this course, almost half of the students who have joined the school, have obtained the score granted by the treasury, because they are families with a low level of income of the family unit. Thus, in this school year, 52 of the 108 admitted, which represents 48.15% of the students, are in this unfavorable economic situation, a percentage that is extended to 68.09% in the families of 3-year-old students who will continue schooling for a longer time in school. In this same line, the College is part of the book bank program of the Conselleria. The number of students who are currently adhered to is 510 and the percentage of participation of students in the courses that can register is 92.06%, which shows that the vast majority of our families need to benefit from the help of the Ministry. Given the large number of students from economically disadvantaged families who need to benefit from these grants, our school also has a bank of books and uniforms managed by the AMPA. And the AMPA has also organized the Book Bank for Baccalaureate students, from which approximately 40% of the students have benefited. We also have 68 Baccalaureate students applying for Baccalaureate SCHOLARSHIPS from the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, that is, 55.74% of Baccalaureate students belong to families with low income that need to benefit from this aid.
We are looking for 1 outgoing young person between 22 to 30 years old who is interested in the field of children and youth. Our volunteer has three main tasks: 1. Helping children in the classroom along with the teachers mainly in the English subject. Our school has students from 3 to 18 years old. 2. Hosting conversation sessions for both teachers and students. This involves preparing conversation topics and working with a group of students. We will offer you materials to work with. 3. Design three projects to work with the students based on European values (environment, health, culture...). The Erasmus coordinator of the school will help you with the designing and running of the project. The project is addressed to the primary students to learn more about European values. Last year the projects helped students learn about 'healthy habits', 'endangered animals' and 'blood donation' and we celebrated a blood donation day. We also learnt about how to help the environment.
IDEA is the coordinating organisation for this project. They are part of the local council and handle all the practical and financial aspects of the project. Having coordinated projects for years, they are very friendly and know what they are doing. IDEA will provide you with accommodation as well as pocket money and an expenses allowance . The two combined currently come to just over 300 euros. The volunteer wil be able to have lunch at our school cantine for free.
IDEA currently also provides the volunteers access to municipal leisure facilities and Spanish classes (three hours a week).
The Participant profile: We are looking for 1 outgoing young person between 22 to 30 years old who must have a passion for children, education, culture and nature as well as a high level of English language proficiency (C1 or higher B2). An intermediate level of Spanish is required as it will aid the volunteer in integrating better into the school community. Teaching experience is a plus but not required. More important is that the volunteer be creative, motivated and flexible as well as open to assist teachers and help students mainly in the English lessons. Applicants who demonstrate strong motivation will be invited for an online interview.Deadline: 30/07/2026 23:59
