Assel Don Bosco Center offers space for reflection, education and relaxation to young people and adults who are committed to youth and young people. Youth work has been going on here for more than 50 years carried out for children and young people with fewer opportunities. Don Bosco Youthnet Netherlands (DBYn-NL) was located in Rijswijk 10 years ago and had been active there for more than 10 years with international programs within EVS/ESC, in close collaboration with Don Bosco Rijswijk. DBYn-NL has been less active for several years (including due to the corona), but with the arrival of an old and new staff member, we hope to design and develop a number of very nice projects for young people with fewer opportunities in collaboration with Assel Don Bosco Center in 2024 to be carried out. We have many short and experienced long-term projects up close and guided several hundred young people in our work. Our employees all have experience in working with European youth and the responsible people within the organization attended various Nji training courses and meetings.

Are you ready to make an impact while gaining unforgettable experience? This project offers a unique chance to grow, learn, and truly make a difference. Built on the values of inclusion and sustainability, you’ll help create a welcoming community while caring for the environment. You’ll join an international team of youth workers, volunteers, and the Salesians of Don Bosco, living and working together with other volunteers in a dynamic and supportive setting. Your role includes supporting a local Youth Center, contributing to youth activities, and taking part in international initiatives such as youth exchanges, training programs, and Erasmus+ projects. You’ll also assist with ecological maintenance and help create a clean, welcoming environment. You will live on the Veluwe, surrounded by forests and nature. Accommodation is in Assel, where you share a room with another short-term volunteer. Kitchen, bathroom, and living room are shared with two other volunteers, creating a communal living space. Some lunches and dinners are organised with the local community. For other meals, you can cook in your shared kitchen.Bicycles are available, and a car from the organisation can be used. As Assel is not well connected by public transport, a driving licence is preferred.

During your stay, you will work closely with youth workers, supporting them in organising activities for and with young people. You will also take part in and help plan international youth exchanges, trainings, and cultural events. This will give you valuable experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds, including those facing challenges. In addition, you will assist the hospitality manager with the daily running of a group accommodation. You will be trained also with tips and tricks to work with young people.

The Participant profile: We are looking for enthusiastic, open-minded, and motivated volunteers who want to make a positive impact, learn new skills, and experience life in another country and culture. We are looking for people who are: willing to learn and try new things, interested in working with young people and supporting others, passionate about the environment and green initiatives, motivated to take initiative and share ideas, comfortable using English, able to work in a multicultural team, and friendly, empathetic, and eager to connect with others.Deadline: 25/05/2026 15:00
