About the local hosting organization

Sant Lluís Town Hall, through its youth service in Molí de Baix, offers its services since 1997 as a youth center. Since 2005 it widened its target population to not only youth but also children and families. Sant Lluís is a little town in the south-east of Menorca (on the balearic islands, on the mediterranian sea) From a pedagogic standpoint, Molí de Baix promotes services, programs and activities that encourage active and dinamic participation, through an inclusive, egalitarian, free and respectful perspective. Aiming to contribute to the development of social habits as autonomous and critical-thinking beings. Through an experience based plan, contributing to an integral kind of development, gaining skills and abilities in a fun, recreational manner, to ease participants the transtion into the different stages of their vital development. A diversity of throughlines are designed from a social and educational project, to educate children and youngsters for a new sense of global ethics, aiming towards social and plural cohesion we live in nowadays. The current team includes 6 people to carry out every task: a coordinator, two directors of activities, two youth leaders, and one social youth leader.

Presentation of the programme

- English Play Centre: You will engage in English related activities with children between 3 and 15 while assisting the teachers during the non-formal afternoon classes. In the mornings you help planning and preparing the activities. In the non-formal classes we do handicrafts, activities and games, drawing and painting, dancing, singing, animation, excursions... However, you will participate in other programs for youngsters where the vehicular language is not English. Is Catalan or Spanish. - Summer camp: outdoor activities during the summer from Mondays to Fridays (excursions, beach, bikes, kayak, hiking, games...) - Play centre: outdoor and indoor activities during holidays (Christmas and Easter)

About the accomodation

You will have your own single room and you will share a house with 3 more volunteers. It has 2 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, kitchen, terrace and 2 single rooms and 1 double room. And it is equipped with electrical appliance and Internet connexion. The house is close to the Elderly Centre and Molí de Baix (our organisation). - 35 hours/week of activity. - 2 days/month of holidaysr. - 300 euros/month for food and personal expenses (cash). - around 300 euros for travel costs - Own bike - Bus card. - Health insurance (HENNER).

About the leisure activities

Spanish lessons on OLS learning website Languages classes (Spanish and/or Catalan) at the adult education centre. EVS trainings on arrival and on midterm.

Requirements

The Participant profile: We are looking for a volunteer interested in education and activities for children and youth; somebody who likes to socialize, to plan and organize activities and specially somebody who loves engaging on a educational process. We also look for people down to earth, with work ethic and also teamwork capacity, humble and willing to provide our organization with kindness and no drama.
