The Maison de l’Europe de Tours-Centre Val de Loire is a non political organisation created in 1987 which aim is to inform citizens about EU actions and European cultures. It is supported by various partners such as the European Commission, the Regional council, Tours city, etc. The Maison de l’Europe de Tours is one of the 38 Maisons de l’Europe of France and is part of the Fédération française des Maisons de l’Europe (FFME) and also part of the Maisons de l’Europe du Grand Ouest et de Centre network. Since 2007 the Maison de l’Europe de Tours is a European Direct Center and since 2012 has certification regarding non formal youth and Adult education. We reach many type of public through our events (european coffees, debates, screen projections, Europe Day, exhibits on european subjects, etc). In our premises, we offer to the public a center of information and documentation as well as exhibits and other pedagogical tools we lend or rent. Moreover, we go in schools, vocationnal training institutions and associations to talk about chosen european subjects. Often, we inform youngsters about european mobility programs of the EU through presentations and games (giant puzzle, treasure hunt about european cultures and Histories, quiz). We also organize formation like CV and motivation letter workshops. We also helps projects holders (youngster groups, NGOs, SMEs, etc…) to find relevant european programs to fund and implement their projects.

The Courteline association develops activities and services around three axes: social action, educational action and cultural action. The volunteer will be integrated into the family animation team. As such the volunteer will participate into parent-child entertainment during school vacation periods (creative workshops, cooking, music, cultural discoveries...). He will take part in recreational outings (cinema, walks, sport activities...), in family outing (3 outings per year in leisure parks, cultural visits...), and in school support for children. The volunteer will also help to run workshops on gender equality and the fight against all forms of discrimination. He/she will also be involved in running the child and parent drop-in centre, which helps to socialise very young children, and the local library. Artistic skills and an awareness of gender equality would be a plus for this role. He/she will work with a French volunteer, from Monday to Friday, sometimes on week-end or evening.

The accommodation will be provided for the volunteer, a single room in a shared apartment. Volunteer receive pocket money, a food allowance, and all costs associated with the mission (public transportation, bike...) will be covered. Travel costs will be covered according to ESC program standards for the round-trip. The tickets can be bought by the sending organization or by the volunteer, who will receive the reimbursement after presenting the original tickets upon arrival.

All volunteers will receive introduction and orientation upon arrival. The volunteer will participate in 2 trainings organized by National Agency.

The Participant profile: We are looking for a curious, creative person who does not hesitate to meet a varied, mixed and intergenerational audience. Openminded and friendliness will be the determining criteria. Summer holidays will have to be taken between May and June because the presence of the volunteer is required during Summer. It is indeed the busiest period for animations around parenthood. Please send a CV and a cover letter (in French or English) to [email protected] indicating your motivation to carry out this mission and integrating our structure.Deadline:
