About the local hosting organization

Founded in 2016, Wheeling2help is a Greek non-governmental, non-profit volunteer organisation designed to promote intercultural understanding, environmental protection and awareness through work on environmental, social and cultural projects within local communities in Greece and abroad. Wheeling2help works closely with different target groups such as local communities, local authorities, individuals and other Greek and foreign associations in Europe, Asia and Africa, in order to develop projects in partnership, aimed at fulfilling an identified need, and to give vital assistance to established initiatives. Projects are designed to be mutually beneficial to all involved: the volunteers, the local hosting communities and Greece as a whole. Our main activities focus on empowerment projects in Asia and Africa (My Quest journeys) - supported by the local hosts and the volunteers participating in the project themselves; additionally we run projects in Greece mostly hosted by the local communities in Central Greece (environmental actions, cultural festivals, campaigns for a cause etc) and educational non formal activities as well working with local schools. Our mission is the mobilisation and activation of the youth through voluntary and educational programs, both in local and international level. W2H enables volunteers to get to know the world from a different perspective, to meet the locals and have an insight into different cultures, learn new skills, gain international understanding, make new friends all over the world, and give something back to the environment; thus, the mutual rewards for the volunteers, communities and ecosystems are massive. Our vision is the promotion of youth mobility, youth involvement in volunteering and their further sensitizing around social and environmental issues. We aim to empower, inform and expand the horizons of people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds, to become aware of the world in which we live and to take an active role in its future development. Wheeling2help provides opportunities to live, learn, understand and experience, while sharing and cooperating with others from different cultures and backgrounds. Our main objectives relate to the promotion of: Values of non- formal learning, volunteering, active citizenship for the creation of a better future for youth. Human rights, solidarity and respect for diversity. Healthy cooperation bridges between countries of the Global South with Europe. Cultural diversity and international understanding. Cross-cultural exchange and cooperation. Volunteerism and development of values and skills for global citizen cooperation and earth protection through environmental activities.

Presentation of the programme

From City to Countryside Living is a 30 day volunteering team ESC project which will take place in Raches, Central Greece. Our goal is to motivate young people to move from the cities to the countryside by giving them practical skills and choices for a sustainable life. We will together learn how to build sustainable structures, grow our own food, make more eco-friendly choices, earn a living and experience countryside by being connected to ourselves and the others through workshops, sports and culture. About the accomodation

During your ESC project, your accommodation is fully covered by the programme costs. Wheeling2help base is at NISI Glamping, where the volunteers nest is located as well! You will share a room with one more volunteer. Regarding food, you are going to get food allowance to cook yourself or enjoy delicious meals at NISI’s restaurant. Raches is a small sea-side village where the longest distance is less than 3km, so you do not really need transportation. If you like cycling though, you are more than welcome to use our Wheeling2help bicycles!

About the leisure activities

Training will be provided by the task related person assigned to the volunteer regarding all the every day tasks. The volunteer will also have the opportunity to get training in other areas of activities from Wheeling2help.

Requirements

The Participant profile: The project is open for young happy, positive and flexible people: ● Aged 18 - 30 years old ● facing any kind of troubles in life (long-term unemployed, facing financial or social obstacles, LGBTQIA) ● Interested in living the experience of spending the summer season in a beautiful campsite by the sea. ● Highly motivated to explore the lifestyle of a social changemaker (being an initiator, being flexible with working hours and working places, being open-minded, being flexible in general). ● Ready to work in an international environment with cultural differencies.Deadline: 29/06/2026 12:00
