Garcia Lorca School is a state primary school set in Alzira (East Coast of Spain), 30 kilometres from Valencia, in an uban setting. Our town has a population of 45000 and it is the capital of Ribera Alta and it is well connected via train or bus with the capital city of our region. Alzira is a dynamic city with different type industries and an important hospital (Hospital Comarcal de La Ribera) tha is located in the town. Our town offers diffirent cultural and sport activities that are organized by our public authorities and other organitations. Our town contains a huge educational institutions since infant education to univesity education. Alzira has got important traditional festivities that are conected with the school projects. Moreover, the school is well connected with the main roads, with the train and the city buses and it is near to the city centre. Our bulding offers all the facilities and educational equipment. We have a very huge playground with a lot of green areas and a lot of sun. Since 2017 the building is being remodelating and we are eliminated all the architectural barriers. We are 320 pupils aged 3 - 12 and 30 teaching staff (including the headteacher who is a teacher too). The teaching learning process is developed through the medium of our regional language called "valencià" which is different from Spanish. English and Spanish languages are introduced to our pupils from 3 years of age , being two important pieces of our curriculum. There are some volunteers (individuals and organizations) as well as members of our educational community that collaborate with us to develop our main key actions centred in: new technologies, ecology, inclusion, healthy life and intercultural activities. We underline the great value of the Parents Association that designs and develops activities for students. Parents and volunteers help us to develop activities like: Chistmas, Halloween, Easter Eggs, craft clubs, Falla, reading activities, intercultural activities (India, Morocco,...), ...
We are a pre- and primary school. There are 340 pupils aged 3 - 12 and 30 teachers. The teaching learning process is developed through the medium of our regional language called "Valencià" which is different from Spanish. English and Spanish languages, being two important pieces of our curriculum are introduced to our pupils from 3 years of age. Our schedule is from 9:00 a.m to 15:00 p.m Monday to Friday. The accommodation and travel cost (airplane or train) are covered by the coordinating organization. The volunteer will share a fully-equipped flat with other participants from the same program and will have their own bedroom. The volunteer will receive a fixed amount of money monthly (around 360 euros) to take care of his/her own food. Cooking your own meals is strongly advisable. Alzira is a medium-sized city so it is not hard to move on foot. There are only 3 different bus routes that travels within the city. Valencia City is only a 40-minute train ride away.

The Participant profile: We are looking for a creative person, interested in working with children, with a very good Spanish and English level in order to communicate with the hosting organisation (students, teachers & secretary). Knowledge of Arabic language will be a plus point since we have a lot of Arab students at school. Furthermore, we would also like someone interested in formal and informal teaching methods, who additionally has his/her own ideas to contribute in the planning of special days.Deadline: 30/06/2026 23:59
