The volunteers will take active part in the realization of different projects at the local Primary Schools or Kindergartens. The tasks of the volunteer depend of the needs of the cooperating Institutions, the capacity of the volunteer and will be around Education, Environment, New Technologies, Culture and Sports. Under guidance and help of the institution’s stuff, they will work on the realization of Educational, Cultural, Sports and “New Technologies” activities for the children of the school. They will also “Learn by Producing" Articles and Presentations, create new ideas and realize of activities organized by the schools. Will also promote the the ESC Program by publishing the results of our activities at the web sites of the H/O. Create recordings and articles for the H/O’s internet radio station www.chiosradio.gr. Realize a “Personal Project”, which will be defined -before the selection process- in cooperation with the Hosting Organisation.

Our volunteers are hosted in a house in a Chios Island's village which is within a walking distance from working places, minimarket, pharmacy, beach etc. equipped with the necessary electrical appliances & furniture to cover all their basic needs. They live in gender based shared rooms with other volunteers & are responsible for keeping their hosting & working place clean & in order. They are responsible for making a cooking schedule at home & provide to the Hosting Organization a weekly list of the goods that they need for meals preparation in order to supply them with.

Using cooperative & non-formal learning methods the members of the Hosting Organization & the teachers of the cooperating schools will provide to the Volunteers the necessary training and support in order to carry out their tasks & integrate into the local community. The educators & the mentors will give to the volunteers information & guidance for the development of their personal, cognitive, cultural, technical & linguistic skills. They also assist them in problem solving and they support them during their entire project, also for the completion of their Youth-pass.

The Participant profile: We strongly believe that all the young people who are willing to collaborate & are thirsty for learning, can realize a very good & fruitful program as long as they are not afraid to “get their hands dirty” & see the glass as "half full" instead of “half empty"! Because the public schools are a "live Organism", our only requirement is the volunteer to be positive, creative, flexible, ready to offer also respect and adapt to our Island’s community and habits. Will be highly appreciated the volunteers who look the glass half-full instead of half-empty, enjoy to work with schools and children, and assist the institutions of the island that heavily rely on volunteers.Deadline:
