About the local hosting organization

Association LITDEA is the network organization uniting non-governmental organizations working on development education and cooperation field. It was established in 2004. Association LITDEA is a non-profit organization, voluntarily representing its members in Lithuania and foreign countries in the area of important political decisions relevant to the working field - development cooperation and education. Association LITDEA units more than 12 organizations which have experience in the development cooperation and education projects. The main aim of the association is to spread the values and ideas of development cooperation and education in Lithuania and other countries. It seeks for more productive dialog and cooperation possibilities with non-governmental and governmental institutions of Lithuania which have political responsibility of implementation and development of development cooperation ideas and projects. Association is socially responsible and highly connected with national and international communities seeking for its provided goals. LITDEA pursues to strengthen cooperation within its members, national and international partners, other organizations. Also, it encourages higher non-governmental role in a public and political life. Likewise, majority of the activities are pursued voluntarily. Regular activities of LITDEA are: 1. To help and mediate member organizations of association while implementing projects of public education; 2. Implementation of the programs strengthening working abilities of member organizations; 3. Organization of national and international conferences, discussions, debates and seminars; 4. Fund-raising consulting for non-governmental organizations; 5. Consulting about the applications of the projects and its implementation processes; 6. Cooperation with international organizations CONCORD and TRIALOG; 7. Public opinion formation, interests representation, briefing for the members about new political tendencies, strategies and activities in the development cooperation sector.

Presentation of the programme

DUKU is a social organization working in the Pilaitė district of Vilnius. Since 2015, we have been supporting children, young people, and families facing social challenges and situations of exclusion. As a volunteer, you will work with young people aged 14–22 and take part in three main areas: Youth centre activities – using creative and non-formal education methods with young people facing social challenges. Outdoor adventures – helping organize and participate in hikes, camps, and small-group trips for teenagers, usually every two months. Street work – spending regular time with young people in their own environment, offering activities such as sports, bike repair, conversations, music sessions in our minibus, and simply being there to listen and support. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in youth work, develop new skills, meet inspiring people, and make a meaningful difference. Go crazy with us, join the youth!

About the accomodation

A separate room in a shared apartment with other ESC volunteers; all accommodations included. A montly allowance of up to 300 euros. A monthly public transport ticket, additional expenses for projects and initiatives (discussed upon request)

About the leisure activities

- ESC volunteer community meeting and events (holidays, evenings, etc.); - on-arrival and mid-term trainings organized by the National Agency; - online language courses.

Requirements

The Participant profile: We are looking for an open-minded, motivated, and responsible volunteer who enjoys working with young people and is eager to learn. Previous experience is not strictly needed— a positive attitude, initiative, and an interest in youth work, outdoor activities, and community life.
