About the local hosting organization

Tudás-Vár is a nonprofit organization founded by a group of enthusiastic professionals in areas of child care and education. In our daycare, we focus on creating a safe, creative and inter-cultural environment in which children (aged 1.5-4) can grow and learn. Our learning program is based on an English literature-based curriculum, and the circle time activities are held in two small groups. Our organization also provides after-school programs for kids interested in embracing a multicultural experience, mastering English as a foreign language. The vision of our organization is to bring up children in a safe, homely environment that bridges intercultural divide, encourages cooperation and effective communication with others from different cultural and ethic background.

Presentation of the programme

Our English-speaking daycare is located in Sopron, Hungary, close to the Austrian border and is run by three enthusiastic workmates offering their laps, time, devotion to a handful of children aged between 1,5-5. After they outgrow daycare, we offer 90-minute afternoon classes and organize summer camps to ensure they continue to benefit from a diverse and multicultural environment. About the accomodation

A 60m2 two-roomed well-furnished flat is rented for our two volunteers with a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area and bathroom. The flat is situated close to the town center, on the fourth floor of a block of flats; in two minutes the volunteer can enjoy the peacefulness of a forest. Volunteers are welcomed to have meals within the walls of our daycare, however they can also opt for preparing their own menus (lunch allowance). Volunteers receive a "household allowance" in order to cover the costs of their breakfasts and dinners, detergent etc. Bikes, SIM cards, pocket money are also provided

About the leisure activities

Volunteers participate in an on-arrival and a mid-term training organized by the Hungarian National Agency. Work related, cultural workshops arranged by the daycare are also offered. Volunteers have the opportunity to learn either English or some Hungarian by using an online platform.

Requirements

The Participant profile: We welcome motivated, committed, active volunteers, who are willing to learn, share their knowledge and understand, respect the needs of young children. As our volunteers keep our children engaged for approx. 35 hours on a weekly base, arm yourself with patience, and an ever smile on your face:-) Some relevant work experience or education related to early childhood experience and solid English language knowledge is an advantage, however we are opened to host any volunteers.Deadline: 30/08/2026 14:33
