Volunteers will support several local community projects focused on sustainability, social inclusion and practical help for residents. At the second-hand shop and recycling project, volunteers help with sorting, cleaning, repairing and presenting donated goods. They support the shop, assist with customer contact and contribute to reuse, recycling and upcycling activities. At Het Dagelijks Bestaan (HDB), volunteers help with growing vegetables, preparing soup and meals, baking bread and delivering food to local residents. Through this work, they also offer social contact and help reduce loneliness in the neighbourhood. At Buurtservice Perspectief, volunteers support practical tasks for residents, such as garden maintenance, small household jobs, cleaning up public spaces and helping with local neighbourhood initiatives. All activities are carried out under supervision. These tasks give volunteers practical work experience, social skills and a better understanding of local community.

Volunteers will be accommodated in shared housing in Zutphen. Each volunteer will have their private room and will share facilities such as the kitchen, bathroom and living areas with other volunteers. Food support will be provided through a weekly food allowance. Volunteers will also receive weekly pocket money, paid according to the European Solidarity Corps rules and agreed arrangements. Local transport related to the volunteering activities will be reimbursed,Volunteers are expected to use the most affordable and sustainable transport options, such as bicycle, bus or train.

During the ESC project, volunteers must attend the mandatory On-Arrival and Mid-Term Trainings. The dates are fixed and cannot be changed. These trainings support learning, personal development and reflection during the project. Volunteers can also follow an online Dutch course and attend weekly Dutch lessons at the Library in Zutphen together with other participants.

The Participant profile: The project is open to young people aged 18 to 30 from European Solidarity Corps programme countries. Participants should be motivated to contribute to local community work, social inclusion and sustainability. No specific education or work experience is required, but volunteers should be willing to learn, work together with others and take part in practical daily activitiesThe project is especially suitable for participants who want to gain work experience, improve their social and practical skills, learn about Dutch community projects and live in an international group setting. We welcome participants with fewer opportunities and will provide guidance, structure and personal support during the project.Deadline:
