Somos La Otra was founded for a group of people with a long experience working in youth and social issues as a platform of project development. Since its founding its goals have been to configure it as a support and collaboration group for personal, community, social and cultural development; promote and facilitate communication, exchange of ideas and cooperation between different social and cultural agents, and develop an appropriate framework to promote the motivation and implementation of social participation actions. To achieve these goals, the following general objectives are established: -Design and implementation of social, cultural, educational (mainly non-formal education) and sports activities aimed at creating development spaces for young people who, in turn, can identify with them. -Promotion of interaction between people of different cultures, ages, social realities and beliefs and other characteristics in order to deepen diversity, miscegenation and inclusion. - Promotion of the well-being of the youth population through its social, cultural, educational and training development; quality employment and social justice; and the establishment of healthy life parameters and environments. -Stimulation of the free exchange of points of view on various topics of interest and participation in the democratic life of their communities. -Creation of networks between different groups and public and private institutions, promoting cooperative relationships.
Long-term project (from the 2nd of October 2026 to the 12th of August 2027 plus travel days) for one volunteer in the municipality of Íllora (Granada province). The volunteer will support a wide range of cultural, educational and social activities organised in the town of Íllora. They will collaborate in the preparation, implementation and promotion of events such as book presentations, theatre performances, workshops, talks, exhibitions, guided visits to the local castle and other community initiatives. The volunteer will also help welcome participants, assist with logistics, create communication materials, document activities through photos and videos, and contribute ideas for engaging local people, especially young people, in community life. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS OPPORTUNITY, FILL OUT THIS FORM: https://forms.gle/yuDgPeUYNPbYn5fE7 We do not respond to applications that do not reach us through the form.
Volunteers will live in a village house equipped with everything they need. Each person will have their own bedroom (in specific moment maybe it is needed to share the bedroom during no more than 4 weeks per year) and will share the bathrooms, living room, kitchen... They will receive a monthly amount of money for food and will manage their own food. They will not need transportation to go to carry out their tasks, in the town they can walk everywhere. For the travel volunteers will receive a maximum amount of money in relation to the distance band according to the rules of the ESC.
Volunteers do not need to have any specific training, although some experience working with people is helpful, as is some knowledge of Spanish. However, during the project, they will be trained in everything they need to carry out their tasks and learn Spanish. They will also form part of the volunteer training cycle, with on-arrival training and an intermediate evaluation by the Spanish National Agency if it applies to them. Also an on-arrival training by Somos La Otra.
The Participant profile: We are looking for motivated, proactive and open-minded volunteers who enjoy working with people and taking part in community life. Volunteers should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and a willingness to learn. The project takes place in Íllora, a small town in southern Spain. Volunteers should be ready to live in a rural environment and be interested in becoming actively involved in the local community rather than expecting the pace and opportunities of a large city. As the activities vary throughout the year, flexibility, creativity and adaptability are essential. We value volunteers who are communicative, respectful of diversity and interested in culture, non-formal education and social participation. A positive attitude, empathy and a willingness to contribute to different kinds of events and initiatives are more important than previous experience.Deadline: 24/08/2026 15:00
