You'll volunteer on a historic estate with gardens, forests, and farmland, helping to protect its cultural heritage and nature. Sustainability is at the heart of everything: food is grown on site, waste is reused, and local production reduces transport and CO2 emissions. All profits from the hotel and restaurant go directly towards restoring the estate for future generations. Curious? Have a look: www.vaeshartelt.nl As a volunteer, you help care for the land and support circular living. Your tasks change with the seasons. In spring, summer and autumn, you work outside: planting, weeding, harvesting, and maintaining gardens and green areas. In winter, you may help with indoor tasks like events, communication, or marketing. You will work with local farmers and learn new skills, such as gardening, food growing, and creative activities. This project combines nature, community, and heritage.
You will have simple private bedroom for yourself, and share the living room, kitchen, and bathroom with other people. You will get budget to cook for yourself. On some working days, you'll eat together with the farmers. The accomodation is located outside of Maastricht, and it's easy to explore by bike or public transport. The closest city is Maastricht, which is a beautiful city with many international students and a lot of things to do in you free time.
After arrival in the Netherlands, volunteers will take part in two trainings from the National Agency. They will also get support from a local mentor. Youthpass will be used to help volunteers reflect on what they learn during the project. For the project, volunteers will receive clear instructions about working safely on the farm, including how to use tools and equipment. They will also get guidance and supervision when needed.
