Finland: ESC: URGENT! Because of cancellation we need 1 volunteer in coastal Kalajoki town

About the local hosting organization

Rieska-Leader ry is a local action group, so called Leader, that works for rural development and supports small local businesses and communities mostly from the European Rural Fund. We have 4 workers, a managing director, a fund advisor, a finance and payment expert and an international and youth coordinator. We are actively involved with the communities of our area (7 municipalities), the associations, education centers and youth houses and we create our own projects and fund other´s to develop the vitality, social- and business life of the region. We constantly take part in organizing events with other associations. Youth and international activities has been a very important part of our strategy for decades and we have our own small youth group that makes decisions on the Youth Leader (nuorisoleader.fi) projects, which is funded by the local municipalities. Our main goal is to activate our youngsters to prevent segregation and have a better youth involvement in activities and decision making process in our rural areas. We have funded youth related projects on our own and also coordinated youth exchanges and a strategic partnership funded from Erasmus+. Having activities with other cultures makes our youngsters more tolerant, open-minded and skilled to have a meaningful life in the countryside.

Would you like to get involved in a long term project, discover rural Finland´s beautiful nature, and enjoy small town vibes? Come to Kalajoki!We are looking for 1 more  motivated volunteer to get actively involved in our town´s international life! We have altogether three volunteers who is assigned to three different full-time positions that include different sets of tasks:

About the accomodation

-the one volunteer we need  would be working for the municipality of Kalajoki, interacting with the local youth. The main tasks include taking part in youth work and sports and cultural activities (12 months)

About the leisure activities

Accommodation is at the Christian College campus located in the city center. You will have own individual bedrooms and bathroom in a flat where you will live together, and share a kitchen and common area. You will also have access to the College facilities (laundry room, living room, sauna, wifi, etc.) with the option to have breakfast and dinner at the campus cafeteria (lunch will be provided at the workplace). The volunteers will also have a bike for local traveling and will be driven or will carpool with others for out-of-town trips. You will also recieve monthly allowance and meal support

Requirements

The Participant profile: The volunteer will join the arrival and mid-term training, organized by the National Agency. The volunteer will have the opportunity to join Finnishlanguage lessons as well and other hobby-groups in the town.Deadline: 28/08/2026 16:00
