About the local hosting organization

The project works as a bilingual school for children whose parents do not have the resources to send them to a school. Great emphasis is put onto the preservation of the indigenous culture. Therefore, the students also have classes in Quichua and Music. The project also aims to give the children a chance to play, have fun, and truly be kids, as often when the school day ends they must work in the market or return to an unstable home

Presentation of the programme

The volunteer would have to work from 7am to 1pm, Mondays to Fridays. They would mostly help the teachers at the school and play with the children during the breaks.

Quito, Pichincha The school is located on the grounds of the Mercado Mayorista, a very busy market mainly for wholesalers.

Requirements

The volunteer will need creativity, patience, flexibility, sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently. The volunteer would also need to be open-minded.
