Permaculture Association, with an experiential project that promotes volunteerism and sustainability in the rural environment of a large city.Permacultura Aragón is a non-profit association based in Zaragoza dedicated to environmental education, sustainability, and social innovation. We manage the Torre Escribana space, where we develop projects in permaculture, agroecology, bioconstruction, the circular economy, and healthy and sustainable food production. Our mission is to empower youth and the local community through practical and educational experiences that promote community resilience, ecological transition, and European solidarity. We work especially to include young people with fewer opportunities, reducing access barriers and encouraging active participation. Our activities include workshops for schools, volunteer programs, educational visits, comprehensive management of the Torre Escribana space, and community projects with a strong intercultural, environmental, and healthy food production component. We also use digital tools and open-source automated production systems as educational resources for young people. We seek European partners committed to inclusion, sustainability, and non-formal education, with the goal of building joint projects that generate local and European impact.

ESC volunteering in rural Spain: permaculture, agroecology, animal care, bioconstruction and community life in Zaragoza.Permacultura Aragón is a non-profit cultural and environmental association based in Zaragoza, Spain. Our main project is Torre Escribana, a rural permaculture demonstration site focused on sustainability, agroecology, ecological food production, animal care, bioconstruction, environmental education and community life.We are looking for European support organisations interested in cooperating with us in the framework of the European Solidarity Corps. The aim is to host 5 young volunteers in Torre Escribana from October 2026 to March 2027, for an approximate duration of 6 months. The volunteering experience will combine practical work, non-formal learning, intercultural coexistence and community participation. Volunteers will take part in different areas of the project, according to their profile, motivation and learning interests.Main areas of activity include:- organic vegetable garden;- edible forest and fruit trees;- animal care;- composting, biochar and soil fertility;- seed saving and food preservation;- natural preparations for ecological farming;- bioconstruction;- sustainable water and energy systems;- environmental education;- school visits and educational activities;- community workshops and events;- communication, photography, video and project documentation. We are especially interested in volunteers who already have some familiarity with rural life, gardening, farming, animals, outdoor work, camps, community projects or practical manual tasks. They do not need to be experts, but they should understand that this is not a touristic experience. It is an active participation in a real rural project, with daily contact with land, animals, weather, shared spaces and practical responsibilities. The project will also pay attention to inclusion and diversity. We are open to working with young people with fewer opportunities, provided that the support needs can be properly assessed and accompanied in cooperation with the sending/support organisation. We are looking for reliable partner organisations that can:- help identify and prepare motivated candidates;- support volunteers before departure;- cooperate in the selection process;- provide follow-up during the activity;- help assess individual needs and inclusion support when needed;- maintain good communication with Permacultura Aragón throughout the project. The volunteers will live in an independent house within Torre Escribana, with kitchen, two bathrooms, living-dining room, private or shared rooms and internet connection. The project promotes local, seasonal and ecological food, sustainable mobility and shared community life. The selection calendar is:- Application deadline: 15 August 2026.- Online interviews: 26 August – 8 September 2026.- Final selection: 15 September 2026.- Arrival and beginning of the volunteering activity: October 2026.Full information and application form:https://permaculturaaragon.org/voluntariado-ces/Contact:[email protected] would be happy to connect with organisations working in youth, sustainability, inclusion, rural development, permaculture, environmental education or community projects.
