The Nyakach Community Resource Center is a prominent socio-economic empowerment hub located in Kokal Village, Nyakach Sub-County within Kisumu County, Kenya. Established by the CIVS Kenya in 2025, this facility operates as a community-driven development center dedicated to boosting local self-reliance, introducing climate-resilient agricultural training, and providing digital literacy program Core Community Services • Agricultural Model Farm: The center maintains a practical training unit demonstrating modern, climate-resilient farming techniques. Local farmers learn sustainable agribusiness skills, resource optimization, and maximize crop production to ensure food security for the residents • Dedicated Spaces for Local Engagement: The Nyakach Community Resource Center features a dedicated, multi-purpose meeting space designed to host a wide range of local gatherings, workshops, and cooperative initiatives. This facility functions as a central town hall where residents can brainstorm, organize, and execute local projects.

• Model Farm Operations: Volunteers assist with climate-smart agriculture by tilling land, planting, weeding, watering, making/applying organic manure, and harvesting crops. You will also help facilitate community workshops on sustainable land use and water conservation • Environmental & Climate Change Advocacy: Volunteers lead environmental restoration projects, primarily focused on tree planting campaigns and educating the community on flooding adaptation and soil stewardship • Center Maintenance & Logistics: Practical tasks include general landscaping, painting walls, managing waste/garbage disposal setups, cleaning the public halls, and executing minor construction or structural repairs

Volunteers stay together on-site or in local host houses in shared rooms. You are required to bring your own sleeping bag and mosquito net. Meals are cooked using locally available foods, and volunteers share the daily cooking and cleaning responsibilities

Free Time & Tourism: Weekends are free for leisure. Volunteers frequently arrange group trips to Lake Victoria, the Equator Line, Kisumu City, or the Kakamega Rainforest. CIVS Kenya also coordinates optional, paid 3-day safaris to the Masai Mara National Reserve
