About the local hosting organizationLes Escaules is a small village (90 inhabitants) in the north-east of Catalonia where, for several years now, a workcamp has been organised in the beginning of September to support the local community in carrying out some local festivities. The workcamp also wants to strengthen the village cohesion and support the locals in taking care of their village and local environment: all together we need to take care of our village!. The festivities happening during the workcamp are an art festival promoting conceptual performance and a traditional dance gathering ?Aplec de Sardanes? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cDDPhjzLlM)
About the volunteer workVolunteers will be part of the whole process and tasks of preparing the local festivities: Aplec de Sardanes: help with food catering, clean the local square, help with parking directions, put on chairs and tables, etc. Festival La Muga Caula:: help with cleaning the big room before and after activities, support the catering (help with cooking for around 120 people), etc. Publicity: Help promote the village through media ? hold interviews, field blog, update social media, etc. Volunteers will work for 6 hours/day (during the Festival it could be a bit more)
Local accommodationVolunteers will sleep in a small common room above the community center with mattresses. There is one complete bathroom and also a kitchen where they will cook themselves all the meals together. Please bring a sleeping bag!
About the project locationSmall village near Figueres.
RequirementsIt is not mandatory, but would be great if some volunteers had cooking or media experience. Please bring a sleeping bag!
