About the local hosting organization

WWS  (Waterways  Watch  Society) was  formed  in  1998  with  a  firm  advocate  of  public  education  on  water  and  environment  awareness.  Looking  to  build  up  individual  responsibility and shared ownership of our water resources, they have established various  programmes that engage corporations,  schools,  community groups and even  government  agencies. WWS was awarded the inaugural Presidential Environment Award in 2006 and the  honorary WaterMark Award in July 2007.

About the volunteer work

volunteer will participate in one of the following:

Hands-on beach clean up
Bicycle patrol to understand how our water systems connect and the importance of valuing our environment
Kayak river clean-up to learn about water environmental issues 

Volunteer will be also helping out the society on the above and also a chance to learn more about environmental issues in Singapore (such as water conservation, littering). Project will be assigned to the volunteer depending on his skill sets

Local accommodation

For short term or long term  workcamp you will be arranged to stay in hostel in the city.

About the leisure activities possible

During the free time, volunteers can visit the many tourist attractions  (eg. Sentosa, Merlion Park, Esplanade, Gardens by the bay etc), nature reserves, horticulture park, shopping areas, the museums and historical  landmarks in Singapore. Some of the workcamps will coincide with our festivals and you will be able to witness and enjoy the modes of celebration by the different

What does the volunteer participation fee cover ?
We are a non-profit organization, so we have kept our prices as  affordable as possible. We receive absolutely no financial support from  the government of Singapore or from any other foreign agency. The  main source of income available for GVC is the participation fee that is  collected from the volunteers.
The participation fee covers:
Accommodation as mentioned
Food at worksite (free days meals are not included) (except
weekend workcamp)
Transportation card for participant (except weekend workcamp)
Running the camp: This includes all the materials needed for the
project, tools, professional charges.
