About the local hosting organization
The school was started in 1965 by the PCEA church to give formal education to children who have hearing problems. The school had 2 trained teachers and 4 pupils which was a unit in Tumutumu Primary School upon its formation. The enrollment has increased due to awareness. At the moment the school has 160 children. They are not able to cater for the increasing demand to meet all their basic needs. They have Early Childhood Development and Education, primary and vocational training centre. The learners are drawn from all over
Kenya. They offer candidates for KCPE (Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination) and government trade examinations. The school is under management of the principal who works along board of management and the school staff. About 8 students have learning disabilities and can neither do formal nor informal education. The school is full boarding where the pupils get food and accommodation. They have a special class for learners with multiple disabilities.
