About the local hosting organizationGIS (Gruppo di Impegno Sociale) is a not for profit organization that since 1995 does social assistance and voluntary projects in Naples (Website, only in Italian: http://www.gisonlus.org). Among GIS activities there are elderly care, social services for people with disabilities, work with women in distress, health care assistance, Italian civic service projects etc. GIS is also in charge of a baby parking inside Monaldi Hospital in Naples. The project of baby parking , started in 2007 as an experiment, arose from the need of the employees of the hospital (doctors, nurses etc.) to have a space where their children could be assisted in their daily activities (sports, outdoor games, homework, etc.) while the parents are at work. In fact as alternative to kindergarten this experience was positive since very beginning because it permitted to coordinate better the daily schedules of working parents and their kids
About the volunteer workThe international volunteers will support the work of paid staff and civic service volunteers at baby parking of Monaldi Hospital. The work will consist in setting up and running a programme of indoor activities for children of 3-11 y.o. (crafts, sports, language workshops, team building games, dances). The working days are from Monday to Friday, the working hours are from early morning till the afternoon with a lunch break.
