About the local hosting organizationLocated in the north of the Loire department, in the green countryside of Forez, the municipality of Régny has a very typical small local heritage. The Rhins flows in the middle of the village, a small quiet river crossed by a stone bridge dating from the 15th century. This bridge needs to be refreshed, and that's why we need you! With the support of the young people of the municipality, you will collectively work on this workcamp while enjoying an amusing natural environment, with many opportunities for walks.
About the volunteer workYou will renovate the stone bridge of Régny by cleaning it and working on the joints that need to be refreshed. You will also clear the brushes around and paint the iron railing to make it brighter
Local accommodationYou will be accommodated under tents on a sport field in the heart of the village. Don't forget to bring with you a warm sleeping bag. The kitchen, toilets, showers and the common living space of the group will be close to the workcamp. You will be able to find shelter there in case of bad weather. You will participate in the preparation of meals in turn, from the products that will be purchased nearby. We will promote local and seasonal products as well as short circuits. Tastings of local products can also be possible with local producers.
About the project locationLocated one hour away from Lyon and Saint Etienne, 25 minutes from Roanne, the municipality of Régny (1200 inhabitants), served by the train, is ideally located to visit our region. The Mont of Forez and its verdant nature make it an ideal spot for outdoor activities (hiking, cycling, and swimming at “Lac des Sapins”, picnic ...). The Auvergne and its volcanoes are also very close. It is a village full of history that the inhabitants will take a great pleasure to tell you about.
Extra info about the projectThis project is supported by the OFAJ, the French-German Youth Office. Some volunteers from France - Germany – Italy may be eligible to have their travel costs supported on the presentation of original receipts. Please note that you will work on scaffoldings, so you have to be able to work at heights. Remember to take suitable gloves, working clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. As the nights may be chilly, bring a warm sleeping bag and warm clothes. Do not forget to take sun protections as well (hat, sunglasses, cream ...) and your swimsuit. You will work under the supervision of our technical animator who will guarantee the security on the site in connection with the municipality. Common leisure activities will be programmed together with the camp animators and according to your suggestions. You will collectively plan the vis-its and activities. If you want to share a little of your culture (cooking recipes, tradition-al stories, unusual objects ...), do not hesitate to take a little bit of your country in your backpack! Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a per-sonal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and be reimbursed once back home.
