About the local hosting organizationFollowing the success of last years projects, the region of Baden-Wurttemberg again invites young people from Rhone-Alpes, Lombardy, Catalonia and Baden-Wurttemberg for another exciting workcamp. The fundamental aim is to allow young people to meet and exchange cultures and ideas that will contribute to strengthening the Four Motors partnership. Due to close contact with the local population, the idea of the Four Motors is passed on to the population of the town hosting the project. The town of Ditzingen is looking for help of international volunteers in the clearing of a stream in a humid biotope. The biotope is close to a residential neighbourhood and a playground. The embellishment of the biotope is to make the area an attractive place for the families living close by.
About the volunteer workIn the last years the biotope wasn t really looked after and therefore the stream is covered with branches, leaves and mud. Your task as a workcamp group will be to clear the humid biotope and its stream. Therefore you ll have to dig out soil and clear out plants. To create better accessibility to the biotope, one of your tasks will be to build a wooden pathway. Also the fence around the area is really old and needs to be replaced.
Local accommodationYou will be accommodated in a youth centre in Ditzingen. It is equipped with a kitchen and there is even a pizza oven in the backyard You will be sleeping on camp beds and use the showers in a near-by gym.
About the project locationDitzingen is a small town close to Stuttgart. It has everything to offer that youll need, including a supermarket and a public swimming pool (which is very close to the youth centre you ll be staying in). Whilst your stay there will also be a local cultural festival called Zeltcafe , where you can enjoy concerts, parties, barbecues, readings and much more after your workday is over. On your days off you can visit places like Ludwigsburg, Stuttgart or Esslingen.
