About the local hosting organizationCome and participate in a workcamp where you will restore a small heritage site of the Breuil town. Do you wish to learn the basics of traditional masonry, and to invest yourself in the life of a small village and contribute to maintain its heritage ? If yes, then come and join us in Breuil ! The town of Breuil asked the the Association of Solidarité Jeunesses in Auvergne to organize a workcamp for young international volunteers to restore part of a the sustaining wall below the church, and to renovate the vault and guardrails of a bridge.

About the volunteer workThe wall that you will be working on was built using traditional masonry techniques. Therfore, after cleaning the seals and getting rid of unstable elements, you will repoint the stones with lime mortar. The second part of the work to be done is more technical and will therefore allow you to discover the techniques behind building a vault : creating and placing a wooden center, placing a voussoir (a stone in the shape of an arch), and using silver masonry.

Local accommodationIn a campground at Lapalisse (10 km from the workcamp). Food will be provided, and meals will be prepared by rotating groups of volunteers.
