About the volunteer workRampur Multi-purpose Trees Species Nursery plays an instrumental role as an agent of healthy environment. The purpose of the nursery is to produce seedlings, distributing them to the local farmers and partners, and planting them in the conservation areas. At the same time, the project helps to train local partners and local farmers. The nursery is managed by a local coordinator who takes care of the plants and material needed for running a nursery. The nursery consists of various plants; multi-purpose tree species (China Berry, Silk Cotton, Ipil-ipil, Shisham, Bamboo, etc.), fruits (Litchi, Mango, Jackfruit, etc.) and flowers (Bougainvillea, Croton, Hibiscus, Gardenia, etc.). Main Activities Produce seedling, distributing them to the local farmers and partners and planting them in the conservation areas. Volunteer tasks To collect the seeds, place them in right order, and plant Create fence around the conservation areas and nurseries To water the plants Weeding, mulching and sowing Landscaping, transplanting Search for seedlings and bed Building If possible run some conservation and environment Awareness classes for the local community people in coordination with local RCDP staffs.

Local accommodationVolunteers will stay with the host family, sharing rooms with volunteers of other nationalities joining the same program. Lunch & dinner are provided at the host family. Food is local style, cooked by a Nepalese family. The main types of food will be rice, lentil soup and vegetables but once a week host family will provide you meat in your lunch or dinner. For vegetarians the choice is usually limited to rice, vegetables, lentil soup and pickle.

About the project locationThe nursery is situated in the southern part of Nepal, which is 120 km far from the capital city, Katmandu and 30 km far from RCNP.

Extra info about the projectParticipation : 2 semaines à 16 semaines. Frais supplémentaires : 350 € pour 4 semaines, 50 € pour chaque semaine additionnelle. Le projet est ouvert toute l'année, la date d'arrivée est libre.
