About the local hosting organizationAccoglienza Degna is a self-organized social dormitory, a living space for homeless people who are excluded from public reception structures, limited in the crisis era or because the project they were beneficiary of ended. A space for legal assistance, discussion, inquiry and dispute over migration policies and rights. Accoglienza Degna is located in L?bas, in the heart of the Masini barracks, rescued from speculation projects and decades-old abandonment, returned to the inhabitants of Bologna as a laboratory of anti-fascist, anti-capitalist and anti-sexist political and social projects, aimed at radically transforming this present of misery, exclusion, racism, precariousness and environmental and cultural devastation.
About the volunteer workPractice and share of the daily management of the dormitory of Accoglienza Degna; Inclusion of volunteers in the socio-cultural activities related to the project (Social Library - Boutique - Italian School for Migrants); Socialization of the anti-racist and anti-sexist life practices inside and outside the dormitory spaces.
Local accommodationThe volunteers will stay in the rooms provided by Accoglienza Degna and L?bas within the spaces of the Masini barrack. On-site baths and showers are available. Bring your own sleeping bag.
About the project locationIn the very heart of Bologna, a few steps from porta Santo Stefano, the place is not too far away from the Airport and just a bus ride from the Central Station of Bologna.
RequirementsWilling to work in group and to live in a self-organized community; good interpersonal relation skills; ability to adapt and to work in a multicultural environment. Share of the values of antifascism, antisexism, antiracism and mutual respect.
