About the local hosting organizationLa Città dell’Utopia (Utopia City) is a project of SCI Italy that takes place in Rome (San Paolo neighborhood). The project is an ongoing workshop on active citizenship and local development. There are different events, initiatives, courses and workshops organized around 3 main themes: interculturality, sustainable lifestyles and active citizenship. This year again, “La Città dell'Utopia” organizes the “NO BORDER FEST”, three days of discussions, music and cultural events dedicated to the topic of migration, freedom of movement and struggle against diverse forms of racism.
About the volunteer workThe Festival focuses on the most urgent topics emerging in last months in the area of international migration, with a focus on Rome/Italy context. The main topics of this edition are: the issue of borders; migration in the global context; connections between citizens’ rights and social inclusion/exclusion. Activities: Support in the construction and preparation of scenography and spaces. Support in the promotion of the festival. Active role during the days of the event. Re-arrangement at the end of the festival. Then the group will contribute with some manual activities to the project “La Città dell’Utopia”.
Local accommodationThe volunteers will be hosted in the social hostel of Casale Garibaldi in the venue La Città dell' Utopia. They will sleep in common (female/male) rooms. There will be provided beds, mattresses, sheets and blankets. The bathroom will be on the same floor and shared by all the volunteers.

Extra info about the projectConnection to the PATH project: http://www.sci.ngo/path The study camp is organized in the framework of the PATH project, a partnership of 13 SCI branches in Europe. The project aims to define and understand current processes of forced migration using lessons from the past. Thus, it uses historical remembrance as an inspiration for present and future peace activism. The transport tickets of the participants will be reimbursed up to 120 euros on presentation of the tickets themselves (and the receipt if their cost doesn't appear) and boarding passes.
