About the local hosting organizationThe Global Initiative for Exchange and Development Inc. (GIED) is a non-government and non-profit organization in the Philippines that aims to empower the youth through international voluntary service (IVS) exchanges and activities. It primarily focus its concerns on social issues like education, health, environment, cultural engagements and community development.
About the volunteer workIn coordination with the Program Officer, the volunteer will be task to assist on any of the following: development of the organization’s/IVS audio, video and print materials, IVS promotion through social media or to schools, private companies/institutions and non-government and government offices, work camp leader during workcamps, secretariat and or facilitator for MLTV programs and other capacity building seminars on volunteerism and inter-cultural learning, networking and resource mobilization and other social related advocacies.

About the project locationCebu City is known as “The Queen City of the South” having a very rich cultural heritage. It is the center of Catholic Religion that draws millions of Filipinos flocking the City during the month of January to celebrate the Feast of Senior Sto. Nino and the most awaited world renowned SINULOG Festival. During leisure time, volunteers can choose to visit various cultural heritage sites, eco-tourism adventure activities or head to the nearest pristine white sandy beaches around the island of Cebu.
RequirementsLTV Fee starts at Euro 950 for the first 90 days. Additional Euro 300 per month from the fourth to fifth months. 6 months Euro 1,800 12 months- Euro 2,800
Extra info about the projectGIED is a new IVS organization and is excited to receive volunteers who have academic/work experience or big interest on any of the following field: Information Technology development, graphic arts, photo and video documentation, advertisement and promotion, capacity building, networking and resource mobilization, etc. Volunteers who have strong background in IVS work or have strong interest in IVS advocacy are also very welcome. The volunteer should be psychologically and physically prepared to do multi-task work in the office and field working with diverse people. The project is open year round and accepts volunteers anytime it is available.
