About the local hosting organizationUkranenland is an archaeological village-museum in Torgelow. The name comes from an old Slavic tribe, the Ukri (Ukrani). The Ukranenland and “Castrum Turglowe” are experimental living history museums, which depict the Middle Ages in the area of Torgelow.
About the volunteer workYou will work on the sites of the open-air museum “Castrum Turglowe” and the archaeological village-museum “Ukranenland”. The volunteers will help to renovate huts, maintain the site and help to prepare and run the annual summer festival. Please be prepared for any work outside to support the museum sites and to work only outside!
Local accommodationYou will stay in a Youth Hostel on the site of the Castrum Turglowe in the middle of Torgelow. It is well equipped; you will sleep in comfortable rooms. You don’t have to bring your sleeping bag; bed linen will be provided. In this camp you will have just limited internet access; there is no WLAN in the hostel. Full board, you will get the possibility to cook traditional meals occasionally. Please be prepared for typical German food, which includes a lot of bread.
About the project locationThe city of Torgelow is situated in the north-east of Germany, close to the Polish border and the Szczecin lagoon. Torgelow is surrounded by a beautiful landscape with a lot of forests.
