About the local hosting organizationThe Social Welfare Centre of Central Macedonia, located in Municipality of Thessaloniki is a public structure for to the protection of family, childhood, youth, the elderly, people with disabilities and the vulnerable population in general Thessaloniki?s Architects Association is a non-profit structure that aims to the integration of its members and to the organized display of their views on professional, educational, scientific and social issues. It is in the high beliefs of the local partners the positive impact an international workcamp could have and how much both sides can get involved to create and to work together.
About the volunteer workVolunteers will be involved in technical assignments (such as painting) at the ?Athina? Training Center in Autonomy located in Plaka Litochorou. They will be guided by the technician that will be stated there. This work is important as it will contribute in improving the accommodation area and the outdoor facilities of the Center. The volunteers will also be involved in various activities with the beneficiaries of the Center. The volunteers will also have the chance to be part of the event that is held every year for the end of the summer at the training Center.
Local accommodationVolunteers will be hosted in the Structure of ?Athina? Training Center in Autonomy located in Plaka Litochorou. Volunteers will sleep in Big Scout tents and basic facilities are provided, such as showers and warm water. Local host will provide also the meals which will be prepared by professional cooks of the structure every day.
About the project locationThe Training Center is located in Plaka Litochrou, a beautiful beach in Pieria, under The Olympus Mountain and near the city of Katerini. In their free time the volunteers can visit The Mountain Olympus, the city of Katerini, the archeological site of Dion and the Castle of Platamona. Around the Training Center there are lots of beach bars and restaurants.
