About the local hosting organizationTFC stands for Trapang Sangke Fishing Community, was established in early 2009 aiming to unite both Khmer and Khmer Muslim together for sea-life preservation. CYA has been actively supporting the community since 2012 to provide voluntary assistance in helping to plant the mangroves, seedling, and maintaining. Due to the active participation with local & international people, the illegal migration of the local families has been degreasing, number of fishermen from the village have been increasing and the children are back to their homes for school. Because the deforestation & illegal fishery are still happening, it has been the needs for the volunteers to support as strengths, and promoting the eco-village which is run to support the sustainable development program for this dual community. TFC welcomes individuals who are passionate about environmental and physical contribution. As an eco-village, you are not only working as active promoters for environmental and sea-life preservation, but enjoying the atmosphere of the natural environment.
About the volunteer work1. Mangrove seedlings, planting, and maintaining 2. Waste and Rubbish management / recycling 3. Constructing the bridge into the mangrove forest, renovating the protecting infrastructure. 4. Educational, environmental and Social Engagement with the local children
Local accommodationThe volunteers are going to in the bungalow which is provided by the community. The volunteers are going to share the space of 3 people in one room, with cushion, blankets, pillows and mosquito net provided. Food will be cooked by the volunteers in the CYA kitchen, built by the previous volunteers
About the project locationThe city of Kompot consists of several interesting things to see and do. Bok Ko National Park: the mountain which is very high and famous for its cold temperature with waterfall, and the beautiful newly built hotel and casino, and the existence of the casino built during the French colonization during the 1940s. Kep Beach: The tiny beautiful beach with fresh seafood. From there, you can access to staying in the small quiet island known as “ Rabbit Island”. Pepper Farm: An agricultural product which makes Kompot famous is the pepper which is grown in the large scale.
