About the local hosting organizationThis project is organized by the Gami Seva Sevana (Shelter for village) GSS, and they are conducting various development activities in the area. This area is an abandon tea plantation area, now most areas are colonized by locals. Majority of the community is south Indian Tamils but surrounding traditional villages are Sinhala. They have village school, categorized under “Harsh or difficult”. Teachers are not motivated to go this kind of poor schools because of lack of facilities. According to local thinking Science, Mathematics and English are the most difficult subjects because lack of teachers. Students are studying English since age of 8 but they do not have an opportunity to use it. During the visits of the villages, they were warring about their language skills. We need to make English as a practical subject.
