About the volunteer workThe municipality of Lozoyuela-Navas-Sieteiglesias has been traditionally linked to livestock farming as a main source of wealth, and even today there is an important quantity of livestock, of both sheep and cattle. Roads were essential to move livestock, as they connected villages and made it possible to bring animals to fairs and markets, to look for new pastures, etc. Therefore, one of the main objectives of this project is to recover those traditional paths and put them in value, for use and enjoyment by residents and visitors, as well as to promote sports tourism, by organizing hiking tours and learning the artistic heritage of the different towns the paths pass through. Tasks to be performed: Restoration of paths/roads: Restore different routes to get to different municipalities: This requires that the following tasks be performed: Access Roman Bridge and Sieteiglesias necropolis: Removal and clearing of vegetation that hides and obstructs, thus favouring the preservation of their traditional uses. Integration of these elements into the landscape to positively impact on their multiple functions (i.e. vegetation, amphibians, watering and landscape). Reposition and replacement of lost elements to ensure their continuity. Old Fountain: Removal, clearing and cleaning of vegetation. Channel runoff water which closes the passage through this area corresponding to the road that connects Lozoyuela to Las Navas de Buitrago. The Old Fountain is an architectonic element. Enhancement of tourist areas: Plant vegetation of native species to embellish those areas. Paths and roads: Removal and clearing of vegetation at the sides of roads and paths, correction of small runoffs, cleaning of remains and improvement of silted water passages. Create signs and/or explanatory panels: About flora and fauna of the environment. Dissemination and environmental preservation: Brochures and information panels will be prepared to describe the behaviour we must show when we are in the nature, i.e. do not throw waste, preserve vegetation, walk only on the signalled path, etc.)
