About the local hosting organizationOrganized together with NPO, ‘Bizan Daigaku(B.D)’ for the first time. They organize workcamp with NICE from 2013. They have many types of projects, one of project started “Flower Road Project” from last year in Tokushima city. It made flowerbed along the national road by local citizen. But it is difficult to do daily maintenance (ex. watering, removing grass etc.) for them. So, they want to keep it with international volunteers. B.D. has also other projects, cleaning up river, project which it cooperate with shopping street, etc. They want to activate this town though having local events with volunteers.
About the volunteer workMaintaining flowerbed (ex. watering, removing grass etc.), and support for local event “cleaning up river”, “shopping street” with local people to activate the area and communication with local people. Also volunteers will join local some activities and events.
Local accommodationSingle room in local apartment house or home stay (Only for female, but it depend on timing). Breakfast in café, lunch with local people, dinner with local host.
About the project locationTokushima City, capital of Tokushima Prefecture, has a population of about 260,000. The city is in northern Tokushima Prefecture where the Yoshino River and its tributaries create a delta.
RequirementsSpeaking good Japanese! Motivation to learn and speak Japanese language, strong motivation for the host.
Extra info about the projectOther activities: Awa Odori Festival on August, Exchange parties, experiencing Japanese culture, etc. Participation in the local events etc. Sightseeing, short trip (hot springs, famous places here). Participation fee: 12,000 yen per one month (6,000 yen from the 4th month) to be paid on their arrivals. There is no fee for vols. from the NGOs charging no fee in their LMTV projects to NICE vols.
