About the volunteer workIn cooperation with the Forestry district and community of Veldenz, you will be carrying out maintenance and removal work on the leisure facilities in the more rural areas of Veldenz, as well as on a premium hiking trail. In addition to this, you will be freeing rare and often valuable trees and protecting them from wild species. Younger saplings also need to be freed and lights need to be set up on some paths and trails. Most of the work will take place outside, so you should bring appropriate waterproof clothing, wellington boots and strong, sturdy shoes with you.
Local accommodationYou will be staying in the community hall in Veldenz. You will prepare and cook meals together in groups
About the project locationVeldenz is around 8km away from the town of Bernkastel-Kues, famous for its old town and representative of the popular holiday region Middle Mosel. This area is popular for its wonderful landscape, full of vineyards. In your free time you can discover this diverse countryside. In Bernkastel-Kues there is a heated outdoor swimming pool. Besides this, excursions to the cultural town of Trier, to smaller vineyards on the River Mosel or to Luxembourg City are also possible. There will potentially be bicycles available for you to use during the camp.
RequirementsFor this project we are looking for young people who like working with and amongst nature and who can cope with 5 hours a day of hard work in the forest.
