About the local hosting organization
The “Open Channel of Wettin” (“WTV - Der Offene Kanal aus Wettin”) has been providing for citizens, the so-called ‘users’, access to the know-how and the technical equipment for the production of video/movies since 1992 free of any charge. The productions are broadcasted via terrestrial television signal in Wettin, via internet streaming (see: http://wettintv.de/media.html) and partly via YouTube. For their production the "OK" offers its users professional film equipment, several film editing suites, a film studio and the support of trainees in media design and volunteers with experience in the area of film/TV production.
In this way film clips in high professional standard, partly in feature-length, and in different formats (reports, documentary and animation films) are produced. The range of topics is very broad and depends primarily on the personal interest of the users.
About the volunteer work
As part of the team at WTV they will produce reports and documentations of events for our program and will get at the same time the chance to realize their own film productions on EU-relevant topics.
Thus applicants should be able to gain knowledge in the field of film production, able to work in teams and to manage stressful situations and should like to work with children and young people.Besides we appreciate applicants with good German skills.
The two volunteers will be living in a fully equipped shared flat, each in his / her own room, in a very nice district in the lovely student town Halle.
They will mainly work in Wettin and Halle. Depending on the projects of WTV and their own film projects they might go to other cities in Germany as well.
About the project location
WTV is situated in the little town Wettin (famous for its noble lineage that spread over whole Europe), 20 km north from Halle on the Saale, which is two car hours south of Berlin.
