About the local hosting organization

Our partner is a non-profit organization based in Nepal, dedicated to community development and humanitarian assistance. It focuses on improving the lives of marginalized and vulnerable populations across the country through initiatives in education, healthcare, women's empowerment, environmental conservation, and disaster relief. Our partner collaborates with local partners, volunteers, and donors to implement sustainable projects aimed at addressing poverty and inequality. Their goal is to create positive social change and build a more inclusive and resilient society in Nepal.

Presentation of the programme

Tasks assigned to volunteers include:
- construction of a water tank and well to facilitate access to clean water;
- building a seniors home and organizing daily activities for the elderly, along with creating a garden near the community house;
- assistance in empowering women, preparing them for employment opportunities;
- enhancing the community house by creating a rooftop space for meetings;
- construction of a firebreak in the nearby forest;
- reconstruction of a Hindu temple in the Banepa village;
- erecting a wall around the local primary school;
- repairing wooden shelters for the community.

Local accommodation

Accommodation: our partner recommends staying at Hotel Hanna in Thamel, where a single room will cost 10 euros. However, for those interested in more luxurious options, other hotels are available based on their budget. Regardless of the choice, volunteers must arrive at the designated meeting time.

About the project location

Location: Banepa - 11, Sinegal, Kavrepalanchok, Nepal.

Sinegal village is situated in the Kavre district, about 30 km east of Kathmandu, at an altitude of 1800 m. Our partner's activities center around Banepa, a town just an hour's bus ride from Kathmandu, offering amenities like restaurants with Wi-Fi and pharmacies.

About the leisure activities possible

Banepa offers a variety of activities for visitors to enjoy. You can explore the picturesque Sinegal village and its surroundings, go hiking in the scenic hills, visit ancient temples and monasteries, or participate in cultural events and festivals. Additionally, you can engage in outdoor adventures like birdwatching, mountain biking, or simply relaxing amidst the natural beauty of the area. For those interested in history and culture, there are heritage sites and museums to explore. Overall, Banepa provides opportunities for both leisurely activities and immersive cultural experiences.
