About the local hosting organization

Our partner, founded on October 10, 2010, as a non-governmental and not-for-profit organization, aims to provide opportunities for youth to explore themselves and the world through International Voluntary Service. Legally registered with the Ministry of Interior of the Royal Government of Cambodia on November 11, 2014, our partner is a full member of the Network for Voluntary Development in Asia (NVDA) since 2012 and the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) since 2014. Additionally, our partner collaborates with organizations like Service Civil International (SCI) and the Alliance of European Voluntary Service. Our partner's mission is to inspire, engage, and empower global citizens to take action towards peace and sustainability through International Voluntary Service. Its vision is to become the trusted and reliable International Voluntary Service organization in Cambodia, offering the best IVS programs to people from all walks of life, enabling them to be inspired, engaged, and empowered to contribute to world peace and sustainability.

Our partner believes in the power of cooperation with local and international partners to organize international voluntary service programs, bringing youth from around the world together to share, discuss, and learn from each other. Through these programs, our partner aims to create a better future while supporting the development of local communities, providing children and teenagers with opportunities to broaden their horizons beyond their immediate surroundings.

About the project location

Cambodia, located in Southeast Asia, boasts a rich and intricate history dating back thousands of years. Once the center of the Khmer Empire, the country was renowned for its grand architecture, including the temples of Angkor. Throughout its history, Cambodia has experienced periods of prosperity and conflict, including the dark era of the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s. Geographically, the country is characterized by vast plains, mountains in the north, and picturesque coastlines in the south.

The nonprofit sector in Cambodia plays a crucial role in the country's social and economic development. Numerous non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and associations work in areas such as education, healthcare, human rights, environment, and community development. These organizations aim to improve the living conditions of vulnerable populations and promote social justice. Despite persistent challenges, the nonprofit sector continues to grow and make significant contributions to the progress and well-being of Cambodian communities.
