Presentation of the programmeVoluntary Service of Armenia (HUJ) was founded in 1965 and is situated in the center of Yerevan. HUJ is a member of the Coordinating Committee of International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) at UNESCO and the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations. The volunteer will assist in HUJ activities and promotion of the volunteering lifestyle, in the organization of international voluntary activities, promotion of HUJ volunteering projects. The participant will learn the aspects of work in a voluntary service organization's office, how to organize international voluntary work camps, seminars/trainings, and details of work with long-term volunteers. After finishing the project, HUJ will help the volunteer find a job in a voluntary service organization. The volunteer will also have Armenian language classes in a language center twice a week, located not far from the office of HUJ. The volunteer will always find here a friendly atmosphere. The duration of the project is 8-12 months.
Local accommodationThe volunteers will be provided with convenient accommodation: a hostel in Yerevan near the city center, featuring same-gendered rooms with two occupants each, shared bathrooms, and a spacious kitchen. This cozy hostel, equipped with all necessities, offers a garden and ensures safety. Approximately 17 long-term HUJ volunteers from different European countries reside in the hostel. On the first of each month, volunteers receive a monthly allowance, sent by HUJ to their bank cards, covering their pocket money, food, transportation, and internet expenses.
About the leisure activities possibleUpon the volunteer's arrival at the airport, they will receive a warm welcome by HUJ. Following this, an introductory meeting will be held at the HUJ office, where the organizational staff will formally greet the volunteers and assist in essential procedures for their stay in Yerevan (obtaining an Armenian phone number, a physical bank card, and arranging a meeting with their assigned mentor). During their mobility in Yerevan, volunteers will engage in two training sessions - an on-arrival and a mid-term training - organized by SALTO in Georgia.

Extra info about the projectThe project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
