информация о местного партнераProjectThis project is organized for local children by The Language School In Down-Town and the non-profit educational association Alternative Language Programs Satellite (ALPS) as part of their annual activities on multicultural issues for youth. Some international teenage participants may join. The common project s aim is to introduce the diversity of world cultures to children and provide them with good practices in intercultural communication using the learning-by-doing method and organizing alternative English language practice. The project gets youngsters familiar with customs and traditions of the countries from all over the world and encourages them to develop their cross-cultural thinking and tolerance as well as global thinking and individual initiative. This summer we offer you to participate in our project called LANDSCAPES . We invite volunteers to support our camp participants learning about a new trend of ecosystems in nature, society, technologies, economy, politics and human relationships. Together, we plan to find out how these complex deeply interwoven ecosystems shape the way we live, learn and thrive, and what those competences are that empower humans to understand, navigate, and positively influence them. Camp participants will try to develop their strategies for a holistic, interconnected view of the world and gain ideas on how not just to survive in a complex world - but to help reshape it toward greater justice, sustainability, and flourishing for all life. Meetings with local and/or international professionals in the field will take place. Thematic photo and video contests for camp participants will be organized.NB It is possible and you are welcome to apply for 2 shifts in a row EST DT1 EST DT2 or EST DT3 EST DT4

информация о местного партнераMichels Kleinsthof is working towards the utopia of a sustainable, resilient, and grandchild-friendly agriculture becoming reality. More than 50 different crops are grown on one hectare using the “Market Gardening“ principle. We are part of the movement “Community based agriculture“ (in Germany, this is called “Solidarity Farming — Solidarische Landwirtschaft“). This means members are involved in the work on a weekly basis to bring sustainable food production to the people. School classes are allowed to experience agriculture firsthand and enjoy looking after chicken, sheep and bees. There is a great variety of tasks in our diverse garden! Diversity makes us independent of the agricultural industries. It also benefits our fellow creatures of all kinds. We deliver a large portion of our products to our 90 Solidarity Farming members, while another part is sold at the market in the picturesque nearby town of Staufen. However, Michel's micro-farm sees itself not only as a food producer, but also as a place of learning and a nature conservation project! Agriculture is the number one cause of species extinction worldwide and is responsible for 25% of climate-damaging greenhouse gas emissions. On one of the most fertile soils in Germany, nestled in a beautiful spot between the Vosges and the Black Forest, the micro-farm sets a counterexample to the monocultures of the rest of the Rhine Valley.

информация о работе волонтераYour help is needed for various construction projects! Among other things, we are renovating our earth cellar using the light clay construction method. The aim is to create more space for vegetables and achieve better insulation. We would also like to build a small hobbit house in the ground for our team, again using the light clay construction method and natural log technique, to create a cool place for lunch breaks etc. in summer. Another manual labour will be to renovate other facilities on the farm. In August, every garden is in the fullness of its harvest season! Tomatoes sweetened by the sun, courgettes and cucumbers growing at a fast speed and need hard-working hands and hungry mouths. But the weeds don't stop growing either. That's why there will be the opportunity to help out in the daily business of Market gardening like harvesting, weeding, planting seeds and caring of small plants in the nursery all the time! In other words, there would not only be the opportunity to experience the multifaceted gardening at first hand, but also to master manual and physical work in a team. So if you have extra energy, you are more than welcome! Study part: In our work, we follow the principle of “Market Garden“: Here is what it looks like: on the smallest possible area, as many crops as possible are cultivated without the use of groundwater-damaging fertiliser, only with the help of compost. The most important idea here is recycling, in order to work with as little labour, pesticides and land as possible. Learning gardening skills, the cycle concept and environmental aspects in agriculture are therefore important learning elements during the work camp. Permaculture and biodynamic principles can be experienced here. The care and feeding of chickens and sheep can also be learned in practice. Another important part is building with natural materials. We plan to implement old craft techniques that were used to build houses and infrastructure without modern technology, yet were very energy efficient.

жилище на местеMost of the organic seasonal food comes directly from the field to your plate. Everything else that is needed will be purchased. The diet will be predominantly vegetarian. Cooking will take place together in the outdoor kitchen and there will also be the possibility to cook a "classic" dish from your country of origin. Next to the kitchen, there is also a fireplace for sitting together in the evening, so your musical instruments are most welcome! We will also use the clay oven for pizza at least once. As far as sleeping is concerned, we will either set up a communal tent directly on the field or provide some beds in construction trailers. A small hutch will serve as our shower, a composting toilet is already part of the sanitary facilities in the field. Please be ready to live in very basic conditions; you will live outdoors most of the time and close to nature. The work will be physically demanding.

информация о месте проектаRegion: Michels Kleinsthof is located between the Black Forest and the Vosges in the border triangle in one of the most beautiful regions of Germany. A nearby quarry pond can be easily reached after work with bicycles provided by the farm and the young, alternative and beautiful student city of Freiburg is also less than 10 minutes away by train. The farm itself is located in a small village called Tunsel, but the entire region is bursting with nature and cultural tourism opportunities. If you are travelling by plane, we would very much appreciate it if you could extend your stay in Central Europe even further, so as not to use climate-damaging mobility just for our project.

условия преэктаPlease bring a sleeping bag, swimwear and preferably sturdy shoes for working in the garden. Please note that you will get dirty in the garden, so clothes that can get dirty and are old are recommended. Remember that the sunshine could be strong and you should bring suitable headgear and sufficient sun protection. Long-sleeved, thin clothing will also work for this. The living conditions will be very simple, so please be prepared. Note that it is not recommended to attend if you are allergic to weed.

информация о местного партнераThis project is organized for international teenagers by the non-profit educational association Alternative Language Programs Satellite (ALPS) on the basis of The Language School In Down-Town as part of their annual activities on multicultural issues for youth. Teenagers from several countries arrive to participate in the intercultural camp where day activities are integrated with local children, while evening free-time activities are held separately and of an optional nature. There is a group of international volunteers who facilitate day activities. Both international teenagers and volunteers are accommodated in the school premises. Thus, the main aim of this work camp is to provide a technical support like household chores and campus patrol, and to ensure a smooth and safe environment at school during the evening hours like pastoral and welfare support and communication for a group of 20-24 international teenagers of 14 to 17 years old.

информация о работе волонтераThe load of work is split into the Morning and Afternoon shifts for 2 volunteers. There are no working hours but a list of tasks or operations, which are expected to be completed timely, meaning that the key time points for being at the campus logically come from the purpose of the working task according to the camp schedule. The same is about the days-off. There are days that are completely or partially free days with no or few tasks to do, other days may be more intensive involving long stay-in working days. The working tasks throughout the week fall into two main categories, such as household chores (including some simple cooking) and pastoral and welfare support (including urgent night patrol and access to the building). Thus, the volunteer will mainly do some of these: supervise meals and all kinds of sanitary routine, manage behaviour and adherence to policies as well as daily routine and order in bedrooms or facilities supervise campus health and safety orientation, manage evening activity and/or leisure programme, communicate with parents. The work requires high level of responsibility.

жилище на местеThe premises of The Language School In Down-Town locate on the 4th and 5th floors of a business building in the city centre. In summer time, a part of the school is reserved for the volunteers accommodation that includes several separate dormitory bedrooms, a fitted kitchen, a small dining area, a large shower area and two separate toilet cabins. Bed linen, towels, pillows and blankets will be provided, so you do NOT need to bring a sleeping bag unless you want so. For the reasons of security, volunteers will be issued only one set of keys. To facilitate a smooth and safe environment at school during the off-hours, the entrance to the school must be kept closed at all times. Catering will be organized by the school on an agreement with the volunteers (selection of times, meals - provided or volunteers cook, etc.).

информация о месте проектаLocationCamp takes place in the school that is situated in the center of Tallinn, Estonian capital www.visittallinn.ee/eng Leisure timeThere are a lot of possibilities for leisure time activities as the camp takes place in the capital where one can find attractions for all tastes: sightseeing and museums, festivals, concerts, live music, pubs, etc. The camp provides an excellent opportunity to establish contacts with young Estonians and to experience the local life.

условия преэктаSpecial requirementsB1 level of English is required. A skill to cook or serve the table is an advantage. The age of volunteers is from 20. A volunteer is expected to arrive to the camp location before 18:00 on a day the shift starts. Please make sure that you are at school on time. Due to all our volunteers do the work for an educational institution for minors, we expect them to provide a criminal clearance and a doctor s check certificate. Please make sure that you have a travel insurance certificate before arrival as well.Participation feeWe ask participants to contribute 60 Euro towards the costs of general administration. информация о местного партнераProjectInternational language camp is organized for teenagers by The Language School In Down-Town and the non-profit educational association Alternative Language Programs Satellite (ALP S) as part of their annual activities on multicultural issues for youth. The project s aim is to introduce the diversity of world cultures to the youth and provide them with good practices in intercultural communication by means of alternative English language practice which includes meetings, visits, contacts to young people from abroad. Camp participants will learn to build supportive peer networks and naturally integrate individual aims into existing ecosystems, manage change for alternative future and take initiative, influence synergetic loops and utilize personal progress for mutual sustained prosperity. We hope you will gain ideas on how not just to survive in a complex world of various ecosystems - but to help reshape it toward greater justice and flourishing life. Meetings with local and/or international professionals in the field will take place. Thematic photo and video contests for camp participants will be organized.
