Presentation of the programme2024 marks the 48th anniversary of the June 16 Soweto and other related uprisings. The Soweto uprising ended tragically with hundreds of young people brutally killed. This tragedy became a rallying point that inspired a nation and a people to rise up against the brutal apartheid system. Following the advent of democracy in 1994, the new democratic government declared 16 June as National Youth Day and June as Youth Month. Youth Awareness Month includes Sports and Cultural activities, providing a platform to recognize the role Youth Play in South Africa society Volunteer Task This is an exciting project as volunteers have opportunity to work with different communities and interact with children after school. The camp will require volunteers to be involved in different activities such as building up learning activities which will be used when the volunteers will meet the children from 8am to 4pm daily activities. Volunteers will work in groups.

Local accommodationAccommodation shared with the other volunteers; The accommodation is granting easy access to public transportation, shops, and various entertainment facilities and is fully equipped with modern amenities, including furniture, cosy bunk beds with fresh bed sheets, cutlery, and essential toiletries. Food wise a selection of South African dishes local and traditional as well as international dishes prepared by the participating volunteers at the work camp.

RequirementsThe work camp participation fee is strictly Euro 260 and this covers simple accommodation, food and project expenses office running/administrative expenses, certificate of participation during the camp, communication prior to, during and after the camp. Please note that this does not include travel expenses to and from the camp, pick up from airport so participants are asked to reserve a small amount of money for transport to the camp and vice-verse. We advise all volunteers to ask for advice from us when they are planning to book their ticket to South Africa
