Presentation of the programmeJoin I Girasoli Onlus! Take part in a 6-month ESC Volunteering experience in the heart of Sicily. This project brings together young volunteers to provide support to people in situations of marginality and social difficulties, particularly refugees, asylum seekers, and unaccompanied foreign minors. Through early childhood support, intercultural workshops, and the regeneration of assets confiscated from the mafia, volunteers will help create a welcoming and inclusive environment.

RequirementsThe Participant profile: Activities include: Assisting in a micro-crèche with toddlers aged 1 to 3, facilitating artistic and cultural workshops for refugees and asylum seekers within the SAI projects, and participating in environmental and community regeneration projects on properties confiscated from organized crime.

Extra info about the projectThe project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
