Presentation of the programmeThe Family and Maternal Center “Sluníčko” is a welcoming community space supporting families with young children through creative, educational, and social activities. As a volunteer, you will assist in daily programs for parents and children, help during creative and movement workshops, and take part in events such as Family Day or community celebrations. You may also contribute with your own ideas, talents, or cultural background — for example, through music, art, or language activities.
Volunteers become part of a friendly and professional team that values empathy, cooperation, and intercultural learning. The experience offers insight into community and family support, as well as opportunities for personal growth, teamwork, and active citizenship.
We are looking for volunteers that could stay 6-12 months.
Local accommodationVolunteers will be accommodated in a shared dormitory near the centre, together with other international volunteers. Rooms are fully equipped, with access to a shared kitchen and common spaces. A food allowance and pocket money will be provided monthly. The centre is within walking distance (about 15 minutes). Public transport in Vsetín is reliable and affordable, and travel costs related to the project will be reimbursed.
About the leisure activities possibleDuring the volunteering period, you will receive continuous guidance and learning support. At the beginning, an introduction will help you understand the centre’s work, safety rules, and your role. Throughout the project, you will have regular meetings with your mentor, language support, and reflection sessions. You can join workshops on child development, communication, creativity, and intercultural learning to strengthen your personal and professional skills.
RequirementsThe Participant profile: We welcome open-minded, responsible, and caring young people who enjoy spending time with children and families. You don’t need special qualifications — motivation and empathy matter most. Creativity, patience, and a positive attitude are appreciated. Experience in childcare, art, music, or community work is a plus but not required. Volunteers should be ready to collaborate in a small team, communicate in English, and actively engage in community life.

Extra info about the projectThe project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
