About the local hosting organization
Imagine yourself surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of the Haanja Uplands, where rolling hills,
winding roads, and sparkling lakes meet untouched forests brimming with wildlife. This is Võrumaa—a
hidden gem of natural beauty and Estonian heritage, where ancient villages, traditional handicrafts, and local
customs have thrived for generations.
In this stunning region, eco- and farm-based sustainable tourism is flourishing, thanks to the support of state
and local authorities.
Here, you’ll be part of something meaningful—contributing to
rural development and preserving Estonia's incredible natural and cultural treasures.
Presentation of the programme
Expect a mix of fun, hands-on tasks—most of them outdoors! You’ll help clear hiking, cross-country skiing,
and snowboarding trails, repaint hiking signs, and prepare firewood. You’ll also get creative by building
enclosures for sheep and preparing materials for rug weaving or wool crafts. Rainy day? No worries! There
will be light indoor tasks to keep you busy.
You’ll work 4–6 hours a day, leaving plenty of time to explore the magical surroundings and get to know the
locals. Plus, local residents will join in the fun during both work and leisure activities. Flexibility is the
key—tasks and schedules might shift depending on the weather and farm needs.
Local accommodation
You’ll stay in a cozy farmhouse with rooms for 2–4 people. No need to bring a sleeping bag—everything’s
provided! The farmhouse has all the essentials, including showers, toilets, hot water, and even a sauna.
Meals will be prepared by the hosts, but you’ll be asked to pitch in and help out in the kitchen, making it a
true farm-to-table experience!
