This village has been welcoming ohenro (pilgrims) who visit 88 temples in Shikoku since long time ago. Also, Sudachi, an essential ingredient in Japanese cuisine, is now facing a serious risk of disappearing due to the aging of its producers. This project involves working in sudachi farming to help revitalize the local production area, while also promoting international exchange with the few children living in the region and giving them opportunities to experience different cultures. Since more and more people from overseas visit for the Shikoku Ohenro Pilgrimage, locals are trying to find new ways for omotenashi (hospitality). We aim to restore and beautify the old, charming village scenery together with volunteers, and make it a place where many people will want to visit.

Discovering Tokushima: Explore the surrounding region, known for the dramatic Naruto whirlpools, the secluded Iya Valley with its vine bridges, and the world-famous Awa Odori dance festival in August.

The initiative to save these buildings brought together people who enjoyed the freedom these activities provided, bringing life again to these places in ways which by far exceed the craftsmen's work done – through exhibitions, concerts, making music together or just sitting by a camp fire. Today, spaces free of political and ideological pressure are no longer urgently required; nonetheless, it is now rare to find places where people can meet without commercial pressure, free of bureaucracy and institutionalism, free of prejudice and the exclusion which it produces. What should be easy – to go somewhere in order to meet people and to work together – has become difficult. The tightrope walk between, on the one hand, public activities in a monetary and functional sense, and the retreat into private life on the other, is very difficult, and it requires a lot of power and permanent efforts to tackle red tape and financial restrictions. Free spaces are less and less understood as common property, and are permanently being cut back. The idea of public property seems to have gone out of fashion, and places of common responsible work have become rare. Open Houses Network tries to create and protect such spaces. In this process, we do not want to be the do-ers. We want to be those who propose vision of initiating a new change in perspective while still being aware of the need to rely in the co-operation of others. We understand our projects and events as offers – as offers to create space for commitment, for changes, for meetings.

Về công việc của tình nguyện viênOrganising and leading an international Workcamp is an interesting challenge for those who enjoy working together with young people from all over the world, which are willing to take over a big responsibility and who look forward to a great summer in Germany. The camp leader's role lies in building a bridge between the participants of the Workcamp, the organisation as well as the technical leaders who guide the practical part of the camp. S/he supports the group of volunteers from a social and intercultural point of view. Open Houses is looking for people who are highly motivated and responsible, open minded and which already have some experiences in handling with other people. The main tasks are to organise the social life for all volunteers during the camp period. The leader will welcome the volunteers and make them familiar with the camp site. S/he will prepare the daily schedule, indicating the working and eating times including breaks and will furthermore be responsible for organising the cleaning and cooking teams, alternating within the group. The camp leader will buy the food for the group, having an eye on the everyday changing cooking teams with their individual dishes. Additionally, s/he organises leisure activities after the working days and is welcome to prepare campfires, barbecues, games or other group activities. For the weekends the camp leader should be ready to plan little trips to bigger cities nearby or other activities. A camp leader has rarely time for personal things during the Workcamp. S/he is always the person in charge of everything and contact person in any questions and needs of the volunteers. This should be clear to all applicants. It is also important that the camp leader stays in close contact to the technical leaders, who are organising the working groups and know which work has to be done. It is helpful to support the technical leaders by taking over the responsibility for a working group, if there are no other works to be done for the camp leader. At some camps, especially in environmental camps, it can happen that the functions of camp and technical leaders are running more together. So it is good to be prepared also to organise a little bit the working part. The camp leader is also responsible for managing the deduction and finances of the camp and to take care of the documentation – writing down what has been done, taking pictures and leading the evaluation of the camp. It is important to do this documentation with a certain care, so that the camp leader which will lead the following camp will know what happened in the past and doesn't need to look for the same information or to do the same mistake a second time. The camp leader has to be able to work independently as well as in a team. Since most of the camps are organised by several camp leaders (one or two and one or more technical leaders) it is necessary to agree upon several issues in a team. All in all, leading a camp means a lot of work and empathy as well as a lot of fun. Open Houses gives the camp leaders the opportunity to be creative and to take over responsibility for their own work. Of course, they will not be left alone in their role. Before getting active as a camp leader s/he will take part in one camp as a volunteer, parallel to the introduction as camp leader. It will be a good experience to be an “ordinary participant” for one or two weeks and to get to know the camp leader's tasks from the participants' point of view. After experiencing the atmosphere of the first camp and after Open Houses and the potential camp leader have gotten to know each other better, Open Houses will decide if s/he will be able to lead camps or not or if s/he would need an additional introduction time. During the summer season Open Houses organises a lot of Workcamps in different places in Germany. Depending on the camp leader's interests and abilities Open Houses and the potential camp leader will decide together where s/he will lead camps. In general, Open Houses offers two possibilities: The volunteers can lead several successive camps in one place (at Lohra Castle) or can lead different camps at various places. For each camp leading of two weeks the volunteer receives a 150 € allowance. S/he does not have to pay for food and accommodation. The camp leader will receive the pocket money after the camp, when all the camp documents will be checked by the office staff and everything will be fine. After two or three camps, is highly recommended that the volunteer takes a break. S/he can stay as a participant in a project. In that case, the food, accommodation and insurance is covered but the volunteer will not receive pocket money.

Our partner offers opportunities for individuals interested in the technical aspects of work to support the technical leadership of Workcamps through Mid-Term Volunteering. This role is suitable for those with manual experience, an interest in environmental activities, or a desire to develop organizational skills. Volunteers assist the technical leader in tasks such as scheduling, tool management, and leading volunteer groups. For students in architecture or related fields, this service can count as internship experience, with certificates provided by our partner. Volunteers receive a €150 allowance for each two-week camp, along with food, accommodation, and participation in cultural activities. It's recommended for volunteers to take a break after two or three camps, with the option to participate as regular project participants thereafter.

This program serves as a bridge, introducing international volunteers to the realities of life in a semi-nomadic Maasai community and encouraging a productive dialogue between different worldviews. The project is based in Kamwanga, an administrative ward in the Longido District of Tanzania's Arusha Region, situated close to the Kenyan border. This area is part of the Great Rift Valley, offering stunning landscapes dominated by vast savannahs. The local economy is primarily based on pastoralism, with over 90% of the population engaged in livestock keeping, complemented by agriculture. Wildlife tourism is also a significant activity, given the proximity to major conservation areas.

Kamwanga is approximately 143 km from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). The community is accessible via public and private transport from the nearby towns of Moshi and Tarakea. Weekends and public holidays are free time for volunteers. We highly recommend setting aside an extra 2-3 days before or after your project to explore the incredible natural and cultural attractions this region offers.

On top of that you get to know Iceland and its culture while having fun, exploring the city, its attractions and the beautiful Icelandic nature, including through optional excursions. Participants should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and be ready to spend time outdoors walking medium distances, be prepared to walk up to 1,5 hours during activities and sightseeing. Note this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a standard workcamp. There is less volunteer work with a greater emphasis on personal learning than on the community impact. A day trip to the Hot River area, combined with a cleanup or work with an environmental project in the area, is included for the participants in this camp.

If you are interested in topics such as climate change, waste management and sustainability, and you also love taking photos, then this project is for you! While developing artistic and technical photography skills, you will be focusing on environmental and sustainability issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits facilitated by SEEDS. One of our aims is to help create more environmentally aware consumers & travellers! You will visit local projects on environment and conservation. These may include hands-on activities or guided visits, such as outdoor cleanup tasks, a local fauna and/or flora exhibition or an Icelandic culture museum. Some of these activities are dependent on weather conditions, as on the availability of our partners. You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice while exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS' social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.

Participants will receive food supplies and be in charge of the cooking and cleaning activities. Note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music or games from your country for the intercultural evening. Be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

The main achievement of the project is to protect the sea turtles with the help of volunteers who will be cooperating with a team of biologists. Up to now, the project has been quite successful and has reached extraordinary results. Participating in sea turtle conservation is a great opportunity to discover the rather charming life of sea turtles.

Depending on the number of turtles that come ashore, two teams might be formed among the volunteers. In this way, each group will be taking turns, working one night, and taking the next night off for recovery. In addition, the weekends are also spared for resting. Some of the activities to be performed are: 1.Finding adult turtles and collecting their eggs. 2.Moving the eggs to a protected place called Vivero. 3.Releasing newborn baby turtles into the sea. 4.Patrolling the beaches at night. 5.Making some reconstruction in the most important turtle camps of the region. Please consider that the schedule is subject to change depending on the weather conditions and the condition of the sea turtles and it is possible to work with crocodiles in case there is no work with turtles, this can happen mostly in the months of January and February. The coordinator or the camp leader will be informing you regarding your work schedule.

They are music organization established in 2016 and registered as a society under the Hong Kong Government. The organization focuses on village conservation and takes Hong Kong's rural land, environment and human stories as the starting point for music and arts creation. Through music and artistic activities, Fragrant Village explores the possibility of telling stories of the land through songs, sound and performance.

This may take the form of a cultural booth, artwork presentation, performance, world music sharing, storytelling display or mixed-format community showcase. • (5) Support the Art Festival public programme: Participants may join the Art Festival weekend programme, including booth operation, cultural performance, music sharing, public interaction or creative exchange in or around the bamboo theatre. • (6) Join the closing / conference / cultural sharing session: Participants may join a special closing or conference session related to rural communities, art and exchange. Participants with relevant experience may share in English, with simple translation if needed. • (7) Mui Tsz Lam or Lai Chi Wo field experience: Subject to partner and transport arrangements, participants may visit Mui Tsz Lam or Lai Chi Wo to understand another rural community context in Hong Kong and take part in related learning or volunteer activities.

There will also be overnight stays in local hostel in shared room (Wu Kai Sha) at the beginning and/or end of the programme. Meals will be arranged according to the activity location and daily schedule. Some meals may be provided by local partners or arranged by yourself. Participants may need to cook every day within the simple living conditions in a rural village setting. Vegetarian food may be available, subject to confirmation. Participants with special dietary needs should inform VolTra in advance, but full accommodation of all dietary restrictions cannot be guaranteed due to the village and island setting.

Unlike the busy urban image of Hong Kong, Kat O offers participants a chance to experience a quieter rural community, local heritage, village culture and coastal landscape. Through this workcamp, participants will discover another side of Hong Kong beyond skyscrapers and shopping districts. During free time, participants may enjoy the natural environment, village scenery, local food and cultural atmosphere of the area. However, as the camp is based in rural and island communities, transport options may be limited and participants should follow the group schedule closely. Ferry arrangements, weather conditions and community needs will be considered when planning leisure time.

This village has been welcoming ohenro (pilgrims) who visit 88 temples in Shikoku since long time ago. Also, Sudachi, an essential ingredient in Japanese cuisine, is now facing a serious risk of disappearing due to the aging of its producers. This project involves working in sudachi farming to help revitalize the local production area, while also promoting international exchange with the few children living in the region and giving them opportunities to experience different cultures. Since more and more people from overseas visit for the Shikoku Ohenro Pilgrimage, locals are trying to find new ways for omotenashi (hospitality). We aim to restore and beautify the old, charming village scenery together with volunteers, and make it a place where many people will want to visit.

Về hiệp hội địa phươngThe Maasailand Project Kimuka is located in Kimuka village, on the leeward side of the Ngong Hills, one hour drive from Nairobi. The area is inhabited by the Maasai community and the project is headed by a Maasai Woman. The project aims to connect the local community with volunteers from all corners of the world at the heart of the Maasailand. The local people believe that the area can realize a substantial level of development through volunteer activities. The area is semi-arid with little rainfall, hence 80% of the population is categorized as living below the national poverty index. The area does not have rivers but the main source of water is rainfall and boreholes. The Maasai people are known for their nomadic nature but most people in Kimuka don\'t move away from their land as they are now embracing education and development. The Maasai children need education and health care. Women are responsible in maintaining their homes. The Maasai community inhabits southern Kenya and Northern Tanzania. They are known for their hospitality, humility, and honesty. They are the best-known tribe internationally due to their unique culture, custom and it is the only tribe that lives near the animal parks. This program will enable volunteers to work with the local people and improve access to social services like children's education, women empowerment skills development and improvement of healthcare, etc. The project works directly with Kimuka Primary School which has over 3000 children and 17 staff, The Kimuka Girls High School which has 950 students and adds up as a rescue site for girls from early marriage, the women empowerment project for beadwork and bags making, sensitization programs for early pregnancies/ marriages and menstrual health, domestic animal health, etc. Medical activities will be incorporated soon. The work of the volunteers will complement the local community activities and in return, the volunteers will be exposed to real adventure and cultural learning. You will be accommodated at the foot of Ngong hills with an evening view of giraffes and antelopes, and nature walks in the bushes.

Về chỗ ởOur volunteer will be accommodated in a host house located at the foot of Ngong hills with an evening view of giraffes and antelopes, and nature walks in the bushes. There is solar energy for lighting and charging of phones, there is borehole water in the village. Sanitation facilities are pit toilets. As the community keeps a lot of cattle, there are houseflies in the region, therefore you can bring insect replant for yourself. The volunteer will be required to bring with her a sleeping bag, pillow and mosquito net. Kindly pay attention to the things you should bring to make your accommodation more comfortable. Food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) will be provided throughout the project duration. Only locally available foodstuffs are used for cooking.

Founded in 1957, our partner NGO is one of Togo's first associations. Secular and not-for-profit, its mission is to contribute to the socio-cultural development of local populations through community projects and the involvement of national and foreign volunteers.
Our partner orphanages take in children aged 5 to 16. The children attend school in the mornings, then spend the rest of the day at the orphanage, where they receive a basic education, health care, daily meals and clothing. Lacking financial resources, orphanages are often understaffed and unable to provide adequately for the children's needs. Voluntary work is therefore essential.
